Re: My new turbo neon.
Saw this car the other day down on university and checked it out myself its a pretty good trade and definitely a fuel and turbo upgrade would make it fly. p.s. I am the guy that came over with toua the other day and talked to you about it. I see you have been reading up on SRTforums GL!

Re: My new turbo neon.
Haha, Yea, this is my old car... I ran a 12.9 at 117 with this setup and turbo at 17psi and 111 octane at Sabin this summer.
I owned the car for 9 months, I bought it completly stock with a SOHC.
This Neon is actually really clean considering that it is a 97, and considering that it IS a Neon.
Good luck with the Neon Nhia, I hope it treats you well.

Only 17 psi on 111 with a built motor? Why so little boost?

Re: My new turbo neon.
Wow, that's pretty lame. So that brings me to my next question. If you're building an engine, and throwing a turbo on it, why put such a small one on?

Yeah I know anything past 16.5psi or so is useless without meth and even then a bigger turbo is where you want to be. Lots of people try to use meth with stock turbo and run just north of 20psi but 50trim is where its at.

I think the engine was probably from an old car he owned and the SRT parts he, most likey, got for free or uber-cheap since I remember he says he knows many SRT-4 owners up there with big turbo setups.

Re: My new turbo neon.
Yea, Mike is correct... kind of. I had my HX40 on there for a little while, but I had the srt4 turbo shit just laying around that I got for free from a buddy who went with a bigger setup.
I took the HX off, so it would be nore practical to drive. And I also only had open down pipe exhaust with the HX40...
The reason I hit 17psi max is because the srt turbo is no good after 16.5 really, anyways, so why push a turbo to the point where it's un efficent.
The engine in the Neon is the 2.0 I used in my RS, so I already had al laying around, so why not use it?

Re: My new turbo neon.
I noticed in one of the pictures that the TB looked like it had some slack in it, I assume that it still has the hydrolic tensioner in it, I know alot of neon people will use the mechanical one, It might even be an srt one.. Im not too sure i just know that the hydrolic ones suck on neons..
Nice car though, My buddy has a 99 Platinum 4 DR With a built motor, His is a NA setup but it moved pretty good till he spun a rod bearing..
