Re: Project Talon 09
I like the wheels and interior!! What do you have for performance mods?
Edit: I see now. Why is it only making 17psi though? I ran 23psi on my bastard piece of shit 20g on 650's and pretty much the same fuel system tuned by shane also. A SMIM may get you more power up top and a TB may also help a bit, but I would say keep the exhaust manifold. If you really need more performance out of it, then just port it, but the EVO III mani's flow pretty well.

Re: Project Talon 09
Stick with ported manifolds. A SMIM would kill your low-end street fun.

Re: Project Talon 09
The manifold was ported and polished by archer a few years back by some one else and idk why only 17psi. Shane said he had to retard the timing a lot to get 17. i just woke up from this txt message "God they're Raping you on mitsustyle bro" but i'm happy with the car so i guess thats all that matters.

LOL
If you're happy with the car that is what matters. You're the one who put the time, money, and effort in to it and you're the one who drives and enjoys it

But the rest of us have to look at it. haha
I like all the Evo parts, and the 2gb Talon is by far my favorite 2g. A little piece of me died when I saw the body kit. I give it 6 months before the body kit starts to crack if you're daily driving it. It doesn't matter how much you glued it, it's gonna crack. And actually, the more bondo you use, the faster it'll crack.

Re: Project Talon 09
I'm glad to see the car come together for you, I know it has come a long way since you got it. Hopefully, it will work out the way you want it to!!
And, I disagree with driving DSM's in the winter! They are summer cars so you can keep the rust off them and make them look good and last!

Re: Project Talon 09
I think you did a hell of a job, sure I don't care for WRX wings on DSMs, hell I really don't care for body kits and lime green paint...
But atleast you did it your self and had fun doing it, more power to you bro!!

Re: Project Talon 09
Figure out why you can't run any boost and you'll find the powah. I made 395 to the wheels 10 years ago with a tiny 20G. That was a dynojet though.

Re: Project Talon 09
A whole shit load of things can keep you from running more boost.
Shit most MHI EVO 16gs can run most boost than half of what I've seen on this board. It is how your supporting mods support eachother...

Re: Project Talon 09
Nothing wrong with a conservative tune, and that mod list makes even heavily modded cars drool, it's a classic old-skool parts list ya got there. More boost will get ya more power but if you're happy with it where it is and its reliable then stick with it like it is
LOL @kevin's comment! Like hughes said, as long as you are happy with it, that is all that's important.

Re: Project Talon 09
I don't need to hear about E85, that was two years ago
Edit - I just went over the mod list, and I can't believe how little of power you are making... Maybe get a 1g head and 1g ported intake mani??

Its his thread, not yours dude! gtfo
240whp on DB's Dyno Dynamics sounds exactly right for only 17psi on that setup, it isn't a dynojet!

Re: Project Talon 09
I understand that my man, but honestly even on a DD he should be making well over 250whp for his set up, atleast in my opinion...
Just proves stay with stock 1g rods on 2g pistons, not need for a built engine and all that piston slap acting as knock.
