Wow, maybe an extended ban is in order for such a stupid comment. FYI I make ZERO off of the site, any money that is made sits in a moneymarket account and is then used as prizes at dyno days. I do not take money from this fund to even fund the hosting of this site, I donate the bandwidth, disk space, server, etc as well as countless hours of my time to keep it going and keep improving it.

With that said, this project exists solely because I have done it all myself, if I had to pay someone else to install this it would not happen, like many of the other mods on my car.

Now, BACK ON TOPIC (damn you Defiant!)

Last night I finished the wiring around midnight. I was at a wedding rehearsal and now I'm off to the wedding, but I managed to get in some testing!

Spraying on the windshield just to make sure all is dandy. My BSP tap should be here today, so tomorrow AM I'll yank the UICP, drill the hole, tap it, and install the jet adapter.

Scheides, I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that you most likely have a well paying job and you're just a hard worker bro.

Don't let some fool get to you.

Probably less than an Evo 9 with 3 or 4 mods.

Re: Aquamist HFS-1 alky kit

Finished up the basic install today!

I have my UICP back in the car with the Aquamist jet adapter installed. BSP tap worked perfectly with the 11/32 bit. A good bit of blue threadlock on it and it should hold boost.

The car drives like a DREAM! Switched back to my old 26psi alky map from my SMC kit and the car freaking hauls ass now. Needs a tune though, there are some definite weird spots and I want to see what a few more psi does. I also need to get a solid pump gas tune, then the car will be all set for the tephra map switching hack!

1mm nozzle installed and ready to rock! Note the damage leftover from my SMC nozzle gone wrong....

Power lead with fuse right as it leaves the battery:

The only pic I'm missing now is one of the huge-ass smile on my face! This kit has been a good job to install but it is worth every penny and every minute I took to do it right. My only fear now is that I won't go back and finish the little things I still have left: a permanent mount for the DDS gauge, extend the length of the power wire a bit, wrap up the last bit (about a foot) of alky hose going into the UICP so its protected and cleaner (i.e. wrapped in black), tap into the dimmer, and then need to secure the dds junction box somewhere once I get the trigger dialed in. I have it set to start around 15psi now, I'd like it to be just a tad higher. I'm sure I'll find time for these little things in the next few days. I'm too close now to give up

I also got my set of off-brand krank vents from Kracka today, I will post more on these once I've tried them out more, but they will go with my new catch can nicely! PM for more info on those.

Re: Aquamist HFS-1 alky kit

I have had the kit running for a few days now and I just wanted to make a few comments about it. The weather is clear here now and the roads are dry, so I have had more opportunities to tear it up and really test this new setup out. (Yes I tested it in the snow, ice, and rain/slush, it worked well then too ) When I had my SMC kit before I was constantly worried about the line being properly primed. Each morning when I assumed the line was low on pressure or empty, I would gently roll on the throttle to hit the trigger point so the line would pressurize, or I would hit the test button. If I did not do this, I would get knock the first time I hit WOT, and it was a bit scary really. Also when I would roll on the throttle, hit the trigger point, then let off there would be this fuzzy area where the car would stumble a bit, it was not aweful but still noticeable.

The Aquamist kit is SO SMOOTH. Rolling on/off throttle is a dream, just perfect. No hesitation, no stumbling, etc. I was really pining over whether to get the HFS-1 or HFS-5 and I have to say the HFS-1 is REALLY good value for this very point. On the line pressurizing point, yes, the aquamist is constantly ready to rock. This morning I was on the phone as I left the house (biz call) and so I was driving the car gently for the first few miles. I hung up and after getting onto a long entrance ramp to another major freeway, I grabbed 4th and just nailed it. I did this consciously, making sure to not activate the alky at all prior to this. I was really kind of crossing my fingers, but alas, ZERO knock, and again, SO SMOOTH. Just BAM the car hits 26psi and off she goes!

Vacation is coming up, but spring is here, dyno results sometime in the next few weeks!

Re: Aquamist HFS-1 alky kit

Like ebony and ivory, I have my Aquamist HFS-1, GM BCS, and tephra v5 working in perfect harmony on my car. Boost is semi-dialed in so that my base map hovers around 21psi and my alt map hovers around 26psi. Base map is a basic pump gas tune I put together for myself, and the alt map is a modified version of my tune from my SMC alky kit. Both need refinement, but you get the idea of how awesome these technologies working together is!

video:

I donated money to Tephra, did you?

There is no fancy footwork here, there are no extra switches. I have a 240k resistor running from a 12v source in the dds junction box that is switched on and off using the dds and then runs to pin 42 of my ecu. Simply turn dds off and you drop down to a standard pump gas tune. If any of the standard failsafe catches on the aquamist kit are hit, it falls back to the pump gas tune (and low boost) as well.
