Re: Funding the DSM project

I work as a software developer at a web development firm here in downtown Minneapolis. It pays well and it helps that I'll be living with a friend soon. Oh and I don't have a steady GF anymore, so it's all cars son.... all cars.

It doesn't help that I have a Subaru AND a Mitsubishi addiction though

Not unless you've been there for 5 years like me. Hey, it was the only place that would hire a 14 year old (yes its legal) and cant argue with the 70-80 cent raises per year I got. I'm done there though, setting up cones, filling potholes, and blowing up beaver dams for ~$500 a week FTW! Thats all pretty much going towards college though.

Re: Funding the DSM project

I'm a Network Administrator for a medium sized bank in Wisconsin. I do pretty good there and plan on being there for a very long time. After my 1st year, I'm at 3 weeks vacation already. The benefits are very good there. My '99 GSX does very well. I haven't come to a point where I short changed anything on it yet. I do everything entirely by myself. I'm single and that helps too. Every girl I meet want's to get too committed. I pretty much believe in the saying 'Dump the bitch, let's go racing'.

Re: Funding the DSM project

I am transitioning careers and will finish school in a month. For 7 years I was in the Fire and Water Disaster Restoration field and was certified in Psychrometry and related things. I Have dreamed of owning my own business as long as I can remember and I am finally almost there. The more I worked with insurance claims the more I saw people are not getting proper coverage and getting screwed over little things like going bottom dollar and not spending $40/year more for sub pump failure coverage and needing to find a few grand unexpectedly. I was inspired to make a change to help me and them out. I am getting the licenses to start my own insurance agency for Auto/Home/Life and in another year financial products as well.

As for funding the DSM it has been whenever a bonus came through or on a b-day or holiday I make the wife only get me car parts. In Winter months due to the horribly high energy bills I usually don't catch up until mid year again to buy mods. At least Shanna likes this car. She never liked the Iroc-z and the 442 was to cold without a heat core and needed too much work. The Talon has heat and A/C so we are both happy.lol. It's just a long slow 1 part at a time process for me. Credit cards are WAY TOO tempting when owning a DSM!

Re: Funding the DSM project

I've been fortunate enough to have he GF actually enjoy the car scene-soo much, in fact, that she's looking to get a 2g of her very own!

I was working at Hopkins Honda, still miss that place. I now, currently work at Maple Grove Tire and Auto, making less then what I had at honda, but when you are out of work for 2 months, and bills stack up, I'm STILL playing catch up. I really don't know how I manage to modify my vehicle in the manner it's done up in right now. I have too many debts in places I don't want. I hope to go see a debt consolodator next week, so I can atleast roll my snap-on bill, school loans, credit card loan, and others all into one. I think Wells fargo will allow me to do this. Other then that, I'm looking for another job, doing anything I can. It's all about money for me. I want it, and NEED it badly! Anyone have ideas?

Re: Funding the DSM project

College?

I'm a software engineer, and single as well. So I do alright with enough money to own a few cars and mod them. Enough is never enough though, and at some point it will have to be curbed to buy a house, maybe sometime soon. 4 car garage ftw. I have a roommate to cut down costs. And my house is pretty bare.

I move around and play with millions of dollars per day for a Fortune 100 corporation.

I eat out too much, but I still have enough left over to save/invest and fund my car Sharing an apt helps!

Yea, 'hiding the receipts' is a relative term for me. Anna knows about almost every part I put on the car, she's just not always informed of the *actual* amount that it cost. It doesn't really matter though. When I had my 2G she ff*ing HATED that car. It was too loud, uncomfortable, I was working on it all the time (not as much as my 1G though!), etc. etc. So When I was looking at getting a 1G to drive when my 2G was on the fritz, she said, 'why not just get an Evo?' That my friends, is why I love her I ended up keeping the 2G for a while after buying the Evo anyways!!

Nuclear Fission. Introduce a neutron into a certain uranium isotope nucleus, and then it splits and releases more neutrons, which collide with another nucleus, and so on and so on and the chain reaction has begun.

I deal more so with the fuel handling and fuel movement though.

And before someone asks, because someone always does, NO My "equipment" does not glow green.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Well lets see here. I want to stop living from paycheck to paycheck. So next week I have to take a test to show that I am smart some what. I am trying to get into a Cleveland Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center (CEJATC). So does anyone know where I can get some refresher's on Math? Thank you for that.

But right now I work at Target out here. After switching to Evening shift. I lost in hours and my paychecks are not what they use to be. And yes the cost of living is going up. Ugh it sucks....

So modding the car is going to be nil to none when I get it back. Thats if I get this new job. It be fun to play with wires and 110 or 220 volts. hahaha

Re: Funding the DSM project

I am a stay at home father, and managing money is what its all about. When I have the extra money I get what I want. The bad thing with me is that I don't install the stuff for like a year after I get it. I have a back log of parts to install on the car, and things I want to do to it that are just sitting around waiting for me to get off busy ass and get done. In my younger days, well about ten years ago I was into doing all the work myself and standing back and looking at what I accomplished, well now I just want it done, no matter what it costs me. On the side I am trying to get a part-time job someplace just a couple of days a week, for gas and comics, but I am still managing to get by without the extra money. However that means in the next couple of years while my wife gets her nursing degree finished, I will be getting no mods done to my car. It will all be maintenance from this point on for at least two years.

I store my car during the winter, and it only has 88,000 miles on it, and is in near mint shape I would say, that means no rust or ANY dents for a 12 year old car. Paint chips and crap like that are pretty much impossible to stop so those are there, but other than that its all good. So hopefully, knock on wood, I won't have to spend money on the car for the next couple of years, just drive it around and enjoy...
