I'm now the new account manager for Micalan Group Inc. We are based in Golden Valley, off 55. We are the handshake and smile for companies like verizon, att, mapquest, google, intuit group (make turbotax, smarttax, etc, and those machines you slide your credit card through). The group I work with is Quill, a staples company. Quill is the largest and oldest company for office supplies in North America. We supply paper, ink, pens, staples, cartriges, etc etc to offices, businesses. We also supply gloves and other medical supplies to chiropractors, doctors, dentists, orthos, etc. Basically, anything you'd use, we supply. Most businesses use a company or another to get their supplies, but Quill is able to beat most everyone's prices by atleast 10%. When buying in bulk, that adds up, and sometimes it's more. Anyway, I start off as an account manager, and it's 4 weeks of training. Then, I move up to account executive, then assistant manager 4 months later, then executive marketing manager, usually average 8-10 months later. Starting pay is between $550-$700 a week, but then it goes up, all the way to that executive manager position, paying $110,000 a year-7-10k a week! I know some may think that's not a whole lot, but for not having any backround in this field, nor really going to school for business, that's a lot to a guy like me. Anyway, The guy who hired me today, has been there for 5 years, and makes around 1.2 mil a year. I was suprised, because he's 27 yrs old, but I guess that doesn't matter! Hell, I beat out 116 other people at this location for the job, and they all where older( late 20's, 30's even 40's!). I'm nervous, and excited to start, but I guess any paycheck is better then none, and I've never seen the ability to move up in a company as fast. There's more to it, but I won't bore you all. Basically, I'm just happy i've FINALLY got a damn job, after not having one for about a month!
