It was fun. Maybe next time we can have no rain and just shine with nicely clean'd cars.

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
Thanks to everyone who came out, even though the weather wasn't what we were hoping for. I was surprised to see we still had a decent turnout.
It was great meeting some of the newer members!

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
I also want to say thanks for the great door-prizes that were raffled off. I was quite surprised to win the slim-fan, but I installed it right away last night and noticed an immediate 3* drop in core temps!

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
Great day, i had fun and it was nice to meet everyone, finally met some people that i have been talking to online. Wish that my car wouldn't of started on fire so i could have dyno'd first but no harm done. 142hp!! the only way from here is up!! So i started once i got home, 3" turbo back is in and boost controller too.
Cool prizes, fun time. To those who thought i was dumb to throw my car on the dyno even though it started on fire earlier, you should find out what happened first before you talk smack.
When is the next event, i am definitely down for then too.

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
oh sorry, i thought everyone knew. I had people calling me and just coming up to me about my car.
I was driving S169 and my g/f was like your car smells funny and i figured it was just my tools or parts, that and my car usually does smell a little. Well we turn on to 81 and i was like yeah, it smells like somethings burning, so i am staring at the hood looking for smoke looking for some lights on the dash nothing, then i turn into the lot and i pop the hood tons of smoke from the drivers side.
I stop right by LSE and there is a little flame right over the O2 sensor, so i run over and calmly say "hey do u have a fire extinguisher, my car is on fire, well josh & the guys look at me and go yeah man your car's on fire , whats up?
Then i am like, no my is on fire I NEED a fire extinguisher my car IS on fire , so shrep grabs one and covers the front half of my motor in powder crap and put the fire out (thx man). At first speculation was oil feed line or turbo grenaded, but i told them about occasionally having trouble with the dipstick and that turns out what it was, so we crushed the dipstick pipe and all is well, even at 18psi, (thats just a spike, i got the BS set to about 10 now)
-That's what happened

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
It was quite funny when you think about it. We are all soaking wet, setting up tents and tarp and you come around our of nowhere and say the car is on fire. After asking a 2nd time we run over and the flame has the manifold and dip-stick pretty well lit up.
And no pics!

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
I have video of it, no actual flames, but definitly is going to be funny to see everyone standing around totally drenched and staring at a car that was just on fire! It definitly was the dipstick. There was oil all around it (almost perfectly)...add a little backfire in there and you've got some flames ready to rock!
GLAD we got it out ASAP man!

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
I hope you don't think it was me talking shit, I probably teased about it for a bit but you and I seemed to get along pretty well. Sadly thats a common DSM thing and its really no big deal aslong as wires don't melt!

Was there any video of my car about to fly off the dyno? I want to have another heart attack and possibly laugh at it one day...

Re: Spring Opener Recap!!
oh no kracka, you cool, (nice meeting you by the way, thx all the advice n shit). The person knows who he is. Just shows some of the character that can be around. (this is kinda a warning for everyone meeting new people/DSMers) Not like Mr. S. Kracka he is cool. I can take a joke and whatever about that shit, all my friends won't shut up about it, like i said i didn't care cause it was nothing serious and as long as the car doesn't need anything too serious this summer, its all good.
