This coming from the kid who has not had a running dsm in his life! Fuck, I thought your car was one of Mikes first projects. I was there the other day and it is still sitting there. Go do it yourself ya mechanic. You give me shit when you cannot even work on your car.

Re: Local Rear Wheel Drive DSM...What?
I still am getting the feeling from what I'm reading that a few of you think that he did turn the engine and all that fun stuff. Its just a spool in the center diff (like v8killa said) with the front plung joint caped on the tranny. The fixed joint has the axle nut tight so the wheel bearings wont come apart. and bam RWD.

Re: Local Rear Wheel Drive DSM...What?
Simply disconnecting the front wheels will not help your 1/4 mile. If the intent is to reduce drivetrain loss, you picked the wrong set of wheels to disconnect from the drivetrain. And without doing a proper RWD setup, traction gains (assuming slicks) are nil. So unless you think its cool, there is simply no rational reason to do that to a functioning AWD car.

Re: Local Rear Wheel Drive DSM...What?
Throw some slicks on there, do a big burnout and break the tiny AWD rear axles on the launch.

That is the only reason why he did it was to do massive burnouts... He runs AWD at the track....

I bought the car as a project, and Mike agreed to help me with it. The project keeps getting bigger. What can't you understand about that? I'm not cutting corners, it's all being done right the first time. I'd rather have one non-running DSM than a handful of them that run half-assed or not at all.
By the way, who's really the kid? Last I checked I didn't live with my parents. Try living in an apartment without a garage and then ask why my car is still at QPR.

Burnouts will always be cool. If someone questions that, they should trade their DSM in for a Prius.

I love the part in Joe Dirt where he stops at the entrance gate and the security guard calls him queer, and he starts burnin' out in his POS.
"You see them spinning tires, is that queer!"
god I love that movie

Ghetto Mechanic? Who gave you the right to call anyone ghetto? Name one thing I have ever done that is "ghetto." Just because I have the talent to build my own parts rather than paying outrageous amounts of money for them does not make me "ghetto." Before you start comparing me to HORT think about what you're saying...

You are 26 and have a (probly) full time job at Target??? I am 20, work full time (ace) and go to school full time in the fall and spring. I took 19 credits last semester getting straight A's. I am actually finacially independent. I could move out but I value money more than you. I will NEVER rent a place to live for a while. While paying school, I am actually saving for a house or some real estate investing. I have quite a bit saved up.
As far as an appartment withought a garage, do you think someone is going to steal the car? Ask anyone who has been to my house. My garage is full of dsm shit. I work most of the time out of it unless I am doing an engine or something in the winter. No heat or cooling, just shelter from rain or snow. If you want to discuss more, PM me.

They are a n00b trick. Great, you can't launch a RWD...or..."this isn't how my Saturn works". I could do burnouts all day...I gots that RWD thingy, stock! Just a waste of time.

Re: Local Rear Wheel Drive DSM...What?
Burnouts are a waste of money, both in tires and drivetrain components. I can't think of a single time in my life when I've done a burnout just for the sake of doing a burnout. Yeah, I've spun my tires on a hard launch and at the drag strip, but never just to see pretty smoke stink up my car. I too love my RWD stock thingy. Reid, lets hit Plypus one of these nights!

Seriously, did you all miss the big in my first post? But since you all wanted to fuel the fire, why stop now?

Did you ever look at the front of your car? What about that Pacesetter manifold with a ton of weld and slag where the runners joined?

Define outrageous. You pay what you get for the majority of the time in this world. Not to say that everything you make is bad, but why wouldn't it be ghetto, would anyone else want your parts?

Target? Shit... How things change. Structured education is overrated. I'll stick to educating myself and stay away from institutions. Have fun paying for your education for years to come.

What does getting my car stolen have anything to do about this? We weren't talking about the security of it, were we? No. We were talking about working on my car. I have nowhere at my apartment to work on my car. That's the point. QPR is in the armpit of St. Paul, if I was worried about it getting stolen it would be from where it sits right now. Regardless, I don't have a garage that I can call my own and neither do you.
