Ah, another question, what kind of SICK ASS 2G could you build for the price of that cookie cutter M3?

...and the Americans beat both, whats your point?
M3's are hardly cookie-cutter; there are far more modded DSM's on the road.

Re: New BMW M3
M3 would waste a DSM in handling. And the quality of the car does not match a dsm either.
If someone said, take this brand new M3 or take this super modded 600hp DSM, Id still pick the M3 just because I know it will last more than 1 run down the strip.
Why would you refer to the war on a subject like this?

Why do some Minnesotans have Confederate flags in their trucks?

I'd take the m3, trade it in, and take the money and build myself a 1000whp supra.

The war thing is a joke man, relax.....?
Cookie cutter refers to all the same, and not modded.
Bottomline: Still say if you took the ~$50K you have in the M3 and put it into a 2G, the 2G would totaly waste it!
IMHO

Might want to bump that price up another $10-15k! Yeah it would waste it in a 1/4 mile race and possibly even in the corners with that much money, but it would also break down every 100 miles and not have a warranty. Lets just agree to disagree...different strokes for different folks. I'd take the M3, its all about performance with style and class.

Re: New BMW M3
A car designed for 190hp pushing 600+ hp is no way going to be reliable or better than a car designed and engineered and put through many many test pushing 400+.
I agree with S2K.

That's cool man, "viva la differance!".
I just always liked the more affordable "blue collar" rides, that I could actually purchase.
But dreaming is Fun!

Re: New BMW M3
I've seen a few BMW M6's I think around here. It was a new BMW that I couldn't figure out what it was. Look pretty sweet but didn't think they'd have 507hp. looked more like a luxury sedan.

Schorers on the 2G did attract the ladies when I first got it. Got me into some trouble. Dumb bitches thought I was a balla! One of the boyfriends even put his fist half way through my tail light.

Re: New BMW M3
i can't believe the option doesn't exist for the C6 corvette. i'd take that over either of those poop machines.
first of all, the M3 is still just a BMW and it will have a not-so-hot interior, a wierd feeling shifter and several other annoyances (like lawyer screens on the NAV).
and B. the 2G is older, will break more, and unless you're brian spilner, your not picking up hot chicks with your car.
now, the C6 comes with 400 hp, but it's dumb pushrod "technology" that is very reliable. plus the new body looks killer. that's my opinion though.

Re: New BMW M3
Seriously- who likes any of these new things anyways? Literally every new car these days has unnecessary body bulk. Ex. 350z, new eclipse (blech), all Audi and BMWs...hell even Porsche sold out in '99 with the awful 996 and now 997. Complete crap.
Give me a E36 gen M3 ('94, say) or even better, a 993 Turbo S. That was back when production design knew what "power to weight ratio" meant. Hell, us DSMers should know that concept better than any!
