The higher use of octane does usually prove to be wasteful, but in some extreme cases it can hamper performance, this I agree with.
Also I have found out that my car seems more consistant on bp 92 octane vs. holiday 93, it seems like the 'blue planet' blend changes batch to batch..
So to much octane, can be a bad thing, just depends on how much 'extra' octane you have.
