Ran a Spec on my gst and it worked just peachy! Right now I'm runnin a sprung 6-puck made by a buddy in LA and I'm happy with it so far, but he only rated em at like 350hp so im gunna change it out once I install all my new parts. I was wanting that one that AMS was selling that people were buzzin about, but they don't have it for sale on their site anymore.

I am running an Exedy 1900. Have 7,500 miles on it, no complaints really, maybe a bit weak for back to back launching (as in pull one I don't like, slam on the brakes and do it again)

South Bend has 3 series of clutches. You can also custom order your own pressure plate and disk combination from them. Call them up, tell them what you want and they will make their recommendation to you.

South bend has been the suplier for the Turbo diesels, and they love them.. so if they are made for the 600+tq and 300+ hp .. i'd say you could trust them in the dsm

SPEC will do the same. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I was looking for when I get my DSM at the RPS Carbon-Carbon clutch and flywheel combo, but don't know much about them I saw that been used in a few DSM's with like 600+ hp and I don't know how much tq.

I loved my Centerforce Dual-Friction. The clutch has at least 30k on it and never slipped; even a little bit. The clutch held up perfect to the 20G this spring, too bad the engine didn't. It probably has ~50 drag passes on it and many Opus sessions. They don't seem to hold up real well in AWD's, but I think that is more driver than anything and I am betting if I were AWD instead of FWD it would have held up just as well.

I thought the CFDF's didn't stand up as well as say ACT's did, to how 90% of AWD DSMers launch their AWD cars. ACT's take the repeated clutch dumping launches better, but reak havock on CFDF's. In a FWD, launching is completely different, so it'd prolly make a great FWD clutch.

Yeah, the CFDF doesn't like AWD lauches. It heats up too quickly. I like the 2600 for a decently powered street car. It is too bad they don't make a 2300. That would be perfect for cars in the 250 - 300whp range, like 50% of mod'd DSM's.

I am almost positive that Exedy doesn't make ACT. I have heard some success stories with RPS or Clutchmasters, but not as consistently as the ACT.

RRE makes a 2500. It's called the X-Clutch and damn near all the socal guys swear they are the best. But they only really sell it to locals, or customers who regularly purchase from them.

I put a new ACT in my ride and a budies Subie this weekend. Both pressure plates said Exedy. The Subie disk did as well, but the one for the Talon said ACT. I would have put in an Exedy, but the ACT is less expencive and the same thing.

Bryan Nelson in Duluth is having great luck with his Clutch Masters Stage 3 on his GSX. He has done drag and road-race events with it, plus it is his normal DD during the summer months. He has used both a S16G and a 50-trim on it.

There really aren't too many clutch manufactuers in the world, and Exedy is one of them. They supply a lot of the aftermarket companies and the stock OEM stuff.

I thought I once heard if you called ACT you could special order a 2400 preasure plate? I could be wrong though, its just more rumor-mill stuff probably. It is too bad they don't have anything in between the 2100 that barely holds more than stock and the 2600 which is too extreme for 90% of the cars its on.

Supras and 3/S's love the RPS clutches, I guess they are really good quality and the price for DSM stuff is not too bad. A lot of StarQuest guys run the SPEC clutches.

Back to the original point I wanted to make, CFDF is an awsome clutch for FWD cars.

the 3s world is all about rps..followed by southbend...followed by 3sx/spec/everyone else.
Back in the day RPS used the 3s as a 'test bed' for alot of its clutches, when the carbon/carbons were first coming up the Supra owners tested it as well as the 3s owners to see if it was good for both platforms.

When you are making serious power, single plate clutches don't hold up...you might think its holding, but the clutch is actually slipping.
Most of the time what the advertised 'torque' value is actually correct, and anything over that will usually slip.
I'd say for a fwd drag car, something in the act 2600 range would work really well. Or call up soutbend clutch and tell them how much power you will make, what its in, and what your price range is, and you'll probably have something at your doorstep in a week.
