Re: HOW IS THIS NOT ALREADY A THING?!
The more of these ridiculous loop holes get closed, the better. I also think people grocery shopping with food stamps should be limited on what they can buy (certain food categories, etc.), including only generics (if available).

Did you know that EBT cards in MN don't have a name on them, they don't require a signature, no ID, nothing that would prevent someone from selling an EBT card for cash.

Re: HOW IS THIS NOT ALREADY A THING?!
I agree on limiting what people can buy with welfare and food stamps to an extent. One would also argue, it is imposing more govt regulation on what someone can and cant do with assistance.
Assistance is there for a reason, to be a crutch short term until you can get back on your feet, from either job loss, or something similar. The real long term problem is that people abuse it for years and continue to do so because of other loopholes.
Cigarettes, alchohol and lottery tix are taxed pretty heavily, so getting the poor hooked on those things, brings quite a bit of money back into the system. Its a crazy circle.

This is why so many are sold for 50-cents on the dollar. I used to get offers all the time when I worked at the liquor store.

I wouldn't say that I identify entirely one way or the others. I have some very liberal views about things that don't affect me or anyone else in a negative way, like gay marriage. But I also have some traditionally conservative views such as wasteful social spending for assholes who are just leeching off my tax money. Then again, I also have some very liberal views, for conservative outcomes. Like abortions, aka killing future criminals to prevent wasteful social spending (Yes, I'm an asshole).

I use to work with a guy that bought these all the time. It was the only way he grocery shopped for .50 cents on the dollar. This system gets abused.

It is suppose to be short term, but in states such as MN where the assistance pretty much pays to not work. In some states people get more on assistance and welfare then most people make working. So whats the point of working when you can do nothing and receive so much???
I just read the other day that some people in Hawaii get close to 60k a year to do nothing. Granted things are more expensive but wow, just think about that. I should say it was more like 44k which would be give or take 60k pre taxed.

When I was working in mental health and chemical dependency I would regularly see these kinds of scum bags that would sell their EBT cards for drugs, cigarettes, cell phone minutes, anything but food or something else they actually needed.

Re: HOW IS THIS NOT ALREADY A THING?!
I had an ebt card from mn for about 6 months about a dozen years ago. I had a diagnosis of bipolar so I was able to get the maximum amount. It was about $200/month iirc. Just enough to get by while living in homeless shelters. Nobody living comfortably off that amount.

I like trolling the folks on the dark side. The formula is government + religion + insanity. I've got the second most likes so far for this crap
