Thanks for the reminder, I just emailed my dad the link to buy an update disc for his '06 C6 navigation.

Do those updates even do much from year to year for like the $200 they usually cost?

Year to year you won't see much difference, but after a few you will, especially with any major construction projects. POI's are also updated which is nice while on roadtrips. With my dad's being nearly a decade outdated, it's definitely due. I believe his disc is v2005, the most recent C6 disc is v2013.
