Most cars are like that Tom... lol thats what traction control is. Applies brakes where it needs to, disables power to whatever wheels are slipping and transfers power to those that grip. True 4WD will be locked diff style, like in 4Hi or 4Lo, but systems that are not locked will disengage and engage as needed.

I always turn off traction control on snowy commutes, much more fun to drive and also more predictable imo.
