Rebuilding motor, need suggestions

Hopefully its good. For the same price, his motor could have been built brand new including new valves/seats and guides and it would have had Mivec seeing his is a Evo 9.

Ouch. Seems sketchy already to me...plus all the modification and swapping of parts it's going to require... Good luck to you, but my guess is you just cost yourself more money by the time this is all said and done while also adding extra headache. I hope it all works at favorably as you're planning though.
