EuroXport Valve Spring Compressor

As promised, here is video of the valve spring compressor I just bought in action. I highly recommend this for anybody rebuilding their head.

I have a kit also. Would've just let you borrowed it. Very nice kit indeed.

Thanks dude, that's nice of you. I even thought about asking to borrow one, but it's such a great kit I decided just to buy one for myself.

It is cheap enough, ever bought real tools? R&D accounts for something.

I was going to say, I bought mine for $75, which struck me as a good value for what it's been able to let me do... other units for removing the springs in the head are substantially more expensive.

Re: EuroXport Valve Spring Compressor

Is that tool meant to hold the valve also?

Looks like a great tool.

That would be nice while the head is on the car.

I still like mine however because $5.00 for the clamp and the socket was broken and free. All I did was cut into the socket.

Re: EuroXport Valve Spring Compressor

It looks like this works for the Evo's also.

No. When I use mine, I just leave the cylinder I am working on at TDC and gently lower the valve so it's resting on the piston. For reassembly you just pull the valve up and put the keepers back in with a bit of moly grease to keep 'em stuck to the valve shaft.

Re: EuroXport Valve Spring Compressor

The one thing I did forget to include in my OP is that it also comes with an adapter for different shaped/sized retainers. I tried it both ways and using the included piece helps the valve sit more centered in the retainer making it easier to get the keepers in.

Goodhart, yes, it does work for the EVO's as well. Sure you can make something cheaper, but for the price and what you get, I feel it's well worth it.
