I use one, and though it didn't get used for long before I left for 中国, I think the only drawback with the A1000 pump was the lack of a check valve.

I use the Jegs brand filter because it was cheaper than the aeromotive. In my opinion, if you can use it after the pump, that will be fine; Stainless is sure to last longer than paperand therefore better, despite the higher micron number.
