You completely failed to see what I said and all you're doing right now is tooting your own horn. They can't find anything related to their career. McDonald's and Sunglass Hut are not related to engineering or radiology. These are educated people who can not find skilled labor employment.

No, what you are saying is that you enable partisanship.

How is it my fault that i chose a good career and career path. Tooting my own horn? No not at all. The way you were making it sound is that you were being snarky with me for having a good career.
I spoke at my old college while i was in transition between jobs this last time, to a class of IT students that the IT education director was teaching. The quicker they realise that its a tough market out there and they will have to take great lengths to get good expirence. Same goes for your friends, in todays market they need to move if need be to the larger concentration of jobs in radiology and engineering. Even if they have to take a job lower than their knowledge etc. Expirence is Expirence. I wasnt suggesting they go out to mcdonalds for a job, i was simply stating that you cant expect to be a senior level engineer fresh out of college.

In case you forgot, I'm in IT as well. I never implied anything about them getting upper level jobs, why are you even saying that? You clearly haven't understood anything I've said. They can't find a job. Period. The friend in radiology went to Mayo for school and they don't even have a job for her there, nor anyone in her class. Last I heard is that there was an actual waiting list for recent grads who wanted jobs at Mayo. You're acting as if you're Nelson from the Simpsons laughing at them because they chose the career path they did.

If I use the money for the GI bill at all(which now pays full tuition for any state school, or equivalent amount), it will be to go to college to do nothing but party. Or save it to transfer to the kids I don't have.
There's no degree that would have a significant impact on getting hired/pay for what I'm going to do when I get out of the military.
Though right now even with combat pay I'll still make under $30k this year while I'm in Afghanistan.

+1
Many people still seem to think that a 4 year degree is a golden ticket or something. Out of college, the key is to find something related to your carreer path and find ways to increase your knowledge/abilities. If opportunities for advancement are not present or you aren't able to keep growing, it is time to find a new place of employment. It takes the right organization and focus to be able to get where you would like to be.
I have tried to explain to my friends that it will be difficult to find the RIGHT job when they complete college. They seem to think that the perfect job will just fall on their lap and they will have more money than they know what to do with. Some also seem to think they will hop into a senior management job even though they can't even explain to me how they would be qualified.
Despite having made some good contacts, I wouldn't want to be looking for a job or just completing college in this economy.
In the graph, I agree with the first economist.
