omg dude, I'm sorry, that sucks. Hopefully it can be fixed easily with a bit of drilling and tapping.

mlomker,
Oh noes! Bummer! So does this mean we may need to sacrifice some virgins to get rid of the curse?
I think it is time to go buy a lottery ticket cause your luck has no where to go but up.

The streak continues...simply stunning that Mitsu could choose to give you this one.
It will all be worth it I am sure!

It is fast, but maybe it's the fact that I drive my car daily and am used to it, or maybe i am misremembering, but i swear my evo 8 felt quicker, obviously not faster, but quicker.
It has to be the peaky powerband of the X and big ass curb weight, but I still don't feel impressed with my car. It feels awesome no doubt, but i want my car to feel fast when i drive it hard.
The strip this weekend should put things into perspective more, but i am yet to feel truly amazed.
I am done for a while though, need to concentrate on house things and sick of spending money on the car, time to enjoy it.

Last time we'd talked you'd never launched the car...have you done any practice? I'm wondering what that'll be like with a six puck.

I'm down to gauges and cosmetic stuff once I have the car back.

I have been practicing some aggressive driving, still haven't done full out launch from stop, i am scared, lol.
I have been doing some higher rev drops from a stop but it still bogs. Shane raised my 2 step to 6k so I will get a few in before Saturday to see how it works, just need to find somewhere to do it. The six puck seems to like hard shifting better than soft. It seems the harder i slam it and abuse it the smoother it works (sometimes).
I still get some fuel dumping in between shifts, seems like when it's cold, but when it shifts right it is awesome.

No idea...Shane said he was bringing the cam cap to MAP but I don't know how long they'll need to have it. Once that's back then it depends on Shane's schedule again...and then we're on to whatever the next problem is.

murlo, don't practice too much on the street, the conditions on the track will be slightly different. Just try rolling off the line a few times, focus on getting down the track and through the gears smoothly. Then worry about getting aggressive

Re: Evo X upgrades
Dont worry. I had to wait over a month just to get my head resurfaced and some valve springs installed.. It will be all worth it once you get it back. Also Murlo, launching with a 6-puck, you REALLY need to slip the clutch out. A LOT. They like to bite and grab very quickly.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I didn't have to slip the 6 puck in my dsm hardly at all. It grabbed so quickly that the tires just spun through first unless I pedaled it. It actually pulled harder if I didn't let it slip much. I can't wait to get the 6 puck into the 240.

Um, I would say you need to practice on the street as much as you can really, more practice the better, assuming you go to RFR or BIR, it will be a lot more slick there, my car always felt like it hooked better on the street.
I've been to both tracks.
