Would it not still apply to any material state? A venturi would affect a gas the same as it would a liquid.

Not so much. Gases are compressible; liquids are not.

Re: What Oil Restrictor do I need?
Justin at PTE also said the same thing. Journal bearing turbos love oil, and do not need a restrictor. BB turbo's need a restrictor. I feed my 67 from my oil filter housing with a -4 line with no restrictor, my oil return line is a -10 (keep in mind my center section is vertical as well and not at all at a angle). I have never had a problem with my turbo since changing to this setup suggested by PTE.

How big was the orifice of the oil inlet, at the turbo?

Wrong. FP does not use Mitsu center sections.

DSMs and Evos don't come with oil restrictors yet their stock turbos don't have an issue.

Re: What Oil Restrictor do I need?
This is where the problem lies, misinformation
Actually they do, its at the inlet of the turbo, its just not inline on the oil feed line.
Thats why I asked him to take a pic of this, because if it looks like this instead
Thats where his problem lies.....

well i cant find the link to the green, but the red is made with a garrett compressor wheel and a mitsubishi center section and exhaust wheel. so kracka i dont know what you know, but fp must be wrong.

Call FP if you want. None of their stockframe Evo turbos use genuine Mitsu center sections.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand: Why does every turbo you touch turn to junk within miles? Or wait, you don't offer turbo rebuilding services, right?

Re: What Oil Restrictor do I need?
already did, and yes their "dsm" turbos do. this whole discussion is about a 2g with oiling problems i could care less about evo turbos.

Then why did you bring the topic of Evo turbos up?

So would FP not rebuild my turbo then since it is not an FP turbo?

And this. I still say scrap it and get a NEW evo3 16g, they make 20g power and none of this BS about restricters and oil feed lines and whatever else. Talking about evos and FP and other turbos and different restricters taht should and shouldn't be here or there or anywhere is just pointless. Check the list that shane posted, see what applies to your turbo, and stick with that. Go with what the manufacturer recommends, nothing else. If it keeps blowing, tell the manufacturer to take a hike.
I'm sick of seeing these threads jullian. Don't do rebuilds for people with unsure oiling setups, figure out setups that work and do them right or don't do them at all. People with street-driven cars should not have to RE-REbuild turbos over and over until they guess the right combo, it is SO painful to see this keep happening locally, I cannot stand it.
