Clutch carnage

This comp stage 4 only had 2800 miles on it and I did not launch it once. It was installed correctly, I wonder if comp will warranty it? Primo let me work on my car in there shop tonight and I found this when I took my trans off.

Wow, yeah, I would think they would warranty it. I hope so at least.

That sucks! I would think they would warrenty it, from what I hear they are good at covering their warrentys. Is this the same problem you were talking about a couple months ago?

Re: Clutch carnage

Wow! I've never heard of their springs failing like that. I'm sure they'll warranty it with no problem. Hopefully MAP has one in stock that Comp is willing to let you have so you can get your car back together ASAP.

Re: Clutch carnage

Jeez guy, you sure do have bad luck with clutches. Didn't that same thing happen to you with an ACT with the springs falling out?

I've heard a few Comp stories like this(from 2jz owners) and supposedly, they are very good about their warranty on these issues.

Re: Clutch carnage

My ACT clutch just didnt like to shift in the higher rpm's which is a common problem on the evo's with the street disc. This clutch just suprised me since I had no aggressive driving miles on it when this happened. I hope to hear from comp today about this.

The flywheel shows a little damage, its just an oem one. And the pressure plate looks damaged a little. the wedge collar came out pretty nice. I just hope I can get a complete new kit. I dont want to mess with any of the used shit and have something else happen. I think I have a spare oem flywheel that I can get resurfaced if need be but I would like to get an aftermarket one now since its all apart and I dont plan on taking my transmission off again for a very long time.

Re: Clutch carnage

Good call. Sucks you can't reuse your current flywheel and PP, but best to get things as perfect as possible for the new install.

Re: Clutch carnage

That really sucks, I had great luck with my comp clutch and beat the crap out of it more than you did.

Hopefully they will replace everything or hope you can get it back on the road quickly!

Re: Clutch carnage

Ya I dont know what the hell happened. I know other people have had no problems with this clutch. I hope comp just covers this one and makes me think positive of there company. If they don't warranty this, I will never purchase another thing from them ever again.

Wow, I loved the comp stage 4 that I put in the DSM, and will probably be getting one soon to throw in the 240. Sucks that this happened to you.
