Rally x is in a feild or dirt lots. Real rally is in the woods, ect where you need the lights at night but for the so called rallying around here

Re: Was thinking of getting this

Who says you can't throw on some fogs to clear things up at night? You don't NEED to rally to have fogs. Idk how I feel about the huge light bar, but I understand not wanting to hack up the pretty front bumper to mount some fogs. Maybe look around for a less flashy light bar or make your own.
The "majority" (not everybody) of ppl on this board are more into making crazy power than they are rallying their car. That's why the "majority" (again, not everybody) will tell you they don't like it. I vote, be unique and do what you want

Re: Was thinking of getting this
Get them if you are going to use them.
I think they look neat and if I were in the country on roads during the night, I would use them.
I don't know why you would have to be off road to use them or on dirt roads...
Just watch out for deer

Form > Function
You know as well as I do that rally lights on the front of a street driven car have neither form nor function.

Re: Was thinking of getting this
If you have some type of use for them go for it. Otherwise they seem a little pointless. If you live in BFE and having a set of kick-ass lights is going to keep you from hitting critters, I'm all for it.
If they are just for looks, I do think it looks cool. Just kinda over the top if they don't serve any use.

Re: Was thinking of getting this
When I move to the mountains I'm buying rally lights. I saw plenty of POS daily driven non-performance street cars in Norway with rally style lights. I think it's a decent idea if you drive hard at night in the mountains. Around here, probably not on the street.

Re: Was thinking of getting this
Im going to vote rice on this one. Im not a fan of the looks but your whole car is setup for drag racing, putting on some lights and a bar will look so out of place. I think if your going for ralley your going to need a smaller turbo and much much more. You got a great setup how it is, dont stray from what your car is

Re: Was thinking of getting this
IDK. If your going to rally it then hell yeah. Otherwise, if you are putting that stuff on there for looks for god's sake at least find a lake (with nobody out there of course) this winter and go out and at least do a little drifting at night so you can say u used them. Set up a little track. Probably the best practice you could get for actually doing rally X. There are a couple guys who set up a little motoX track at Twin Lake in Brooklyn Center. Im sure for a few bucks they would plow a track with some extra turns just for you.
If you never plan on turning them on, then spend the money on something worthwhile.

not bad. but it should be put in use though. I would love to have those lights for the Galant just for shits and giggles, but we'll see if i want to go rally or not.

Haha, truth.
Though I must admit, after driving around in the rain tonight, my headlights don't illuminate a damn thing in the wet. I found myself multiple times crossing lines because I couldn't see them, and it's not like my lights aren't bright, they're more than adequate in the dry.

Re: Was thinking of getting this
But by MN state law dont you have to have all the lights covered by covers, like hella covers. I got a jeep and i know its state law that if i get an upper light bar all my lights have to be covered while on roads, and they actually pull you over, new cars usually not like old broncos with smashed up lights......grrrr

Correct, big lights like that are for off-road use only which is why they are required to be covered while on the street. Hence why it's a completely useless mod for a street car.

Re: Was thinking of getting this
I think it looks OK?
Where does the bar attach? I wonder how strong it is. It looks like it would be nice for protecting your FMIC. Even though they don't race hardcore rally up here it doesn't take much to F your car up. I've seen a deep rut on a county dirt road destroy a car or two at moderate speed.
I have been contemplating putting a removable heavyduty push bar on the front of the Galant for Spec Drags

Last time someone told me that, i put a body kit on my car. Regretted it ever since. Hence why the subsequent cars never touched fiberglass. He was asking for an opinion.
I say dont unless you plan to really use them, otherwise its a waste of money and humiliation (from when people ask what rallys have you driven in).

Re: Was thinking of getting this
I personally like the way it looks, Id make it removable though... I would imagine they would be really nice in a heavy snow storm or if you were on the back roads tearing it up..
Also if i remember correctly, There is a rally track in wisconsin somewhere unless they closed it.
Like i was saying if it were removable i think it would be an awesome idea IMO.. Im sure they dont make it like that but you could easily make it. Id make a harness that had a plug, and then i would cut the mounting brackets down and make it so you could just slide the assembly on, Throw some pins in it and plug your harness in.
