2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
I can't believe the fall dyno day is upon us already! For the first time possibly ever, I have not touched my setup with any last-minute parts! I'll be running my car as it came off the rollers at shane's in July. It put down ~385whp/340wtq on pump and ~420whp/390wtq on alky. The car is still running strong and I'm hoping to prove the 16-18% difference between the two dynos and break 480whp on map's dyno!
Enough about my damn evo though. I have a few call-outs for this event:
-asshanson (the grandpa-mobile)
-sleepyDSM
-floppy
-CVD
-goodhart
-95talonracer
-tehehodi
-poofy97gsx
-mlonker
-jrohner
You guys have had running project threads all summer, its time to put down some numbers on MAP's dyno!
Next up, anyone got any last-minute or recent changes? New setups or cars for a first-time on the dyno? Share what you can!

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
If I have money for this event, I plan on dyno-ing. Weird though, as the car feels down on power. So, I wanna see if it REALLY is, or if I'm full of it, and the car just now feels "slow".

Your butt dyno is busted. You may want to use Spaz's rubber fist to recalibrate it.

We'll see. I haven't made drastic changes from last year's 414hp/459torque. An Evo 8 ECU, Evo intake, SS o2 housing, and a few more PSI of boost on top end out of the puny 16G.

I highly doubt Goodhart will have his up and running solid by then. And his tranny still sucks. Hopefully it will be soon though.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
Ya, no way I will have a DSM on the dyno. Waaaay to much to do, I want to do it right this time around, and then when I'm done I will still have a tranny that grinds in 2nd lol. My brother might be coming with if I can talk him into it and he should get the highest numbers of the day if he does.

Get that thing done already!
That's funny, there were two dudes with 1970's cameros that came last time that were damn sure they were gonna take top numbers...one made just over what my wife's car put down and the other made almost 300whp

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
I'm curious to see if I can break the 200whp barrier with the 11b, It's going to make monster torque either way though I'm sure.

Okay, what the hell. I doubt that I'll be tuned by then but nothing wrong with a baseline.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
I might have to make this event. The car is down for the moment, but if all goes well tomorrow I should be able to make it with a tweaked tune and a few more lbs from my baseline run at MAP...

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
I will dyno for sure if I can find someone with the bluepoint snap on YA9140A tool for doing valve stem seals without taking the head off. Anyone? Right now it just smokes like a bitch under decel and I am not dynoing it like that.

You could do the nylon rope in the cylinder trick, or compressed air. Air worked for me.

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
Ill do the rope trick but how do I compress the valvespring? I need that tool. I wanna hit the dyno real bad! Ill be at 35psi or more if there is enough fuel pump on my 2.3. What estimate numbers anyone think that could put down? 6xx?

Re: 2009 Fall Dyno day- callouts and curiosities
You can rig something up. I once clamped two pieces of wood together with another thin one between them as a spacer, then leaned on it with my chest and pulled the keepers out, haha. Good thing they don't have a whole lot of seat pressure, anything over about 150lbs would be very hard to do this method. And I'm not sure about dsm heads, but if you can access the valve springs, you can rent a valve spring compressor from vato zone or Ho'reily's.
