Break-in
So I've had the V for about 2 months now, and already it's been broken into. Two guys kicked out the front grille, and tried removing the lower grille too but just bent it out of shape is all. I'm assuming they wanted it for their own CTS make it look like a V, who knows.
Also my wheel lock was stolen out of the glove box, not sure how they got in but there were no obvious signs of forced entry that I could see. A girl across the street saw it happen and said they had a jack with them, but were scared off by something before they could take the rims. So I'm going to replace the wheel locks ASAP.
Nothing else was taken except the manual and the previous owner's information from the glove box, glad they left me my nav system.
Peter took a couple pics, maybe he'll post them up.
On a side note, my parents have been looking at getting a CTS-V too, this morning I found myself wanting to give them mine, I'm going to be paranoid from now on.

Re: Break-in
Yea this is total crap, but Im wondering why your stock alarm didnt go off. The horn should have been blaring as soon as they got into the car. Hmm
I still dont get how they could break into the car unless they were really skilled or had a key?

Re: Break-in
UGH, thieves are the worst people on earth.
Wish we could have the LETHAL anti-theft systems like you can get in south africa.

Re: Break-in
Damn that sucks to hear. It's so frustrating, and I know me personally I feel like my space has been violated a bit. It's a crappy feeling.
Maybe looking into something like a Compustar security system on it that come with the keychain pagers with a pretty deng long range on them. You'll know right away and be able to get out there asap.
And what about a closed circuit camera system. Point a camera around the area you park the car so if they park near your car you might get a license number, or see a face, or something.
I've been thinking about doing this stuff ever since my garage was broken into.

Re: Break-in
Yea not sure about what happened with the factory alarm. Maybe it did go off and they had already gotten the grill off by then? Took the wheel lock and left to come back another day?
I really like the clifford alarm on my Talon, the shock sensor went off this morning for the first time in months, turns out a big street cleaner got a bit too close is all, I looked outside within 10 seconds of it going off, my front window faces the car. It definitely has enough range to my parking lot, maybe I could get another one for the V.
Unfortunately my association has deemed cameras would do no good because these things happen at night and the quality wouldn't be good enough.

Re: Break-in
Funny, we discussed the exact same thing last night. Big comfortable back seat to sleep in, plus my xD 40 for comfort.

Re: Break-in
They took the top big one, the bottom one just needs to be bent back and clips need to be bought to secure it to the bumper.

Re: Break-in
You need a garage. Sadly, there will never be fewer thieves, but hiding the car in a garage in the suburbs does a pretty good job.
