Re: March for health care!
My wife just had a baby three weeks ago, and it couldn't have been a better experience as far as healthcare is concerned. As is every visit I've had for years and years. The system right now works perfectly well for those who work for a living and pay the costs. Could we make it less expensive for everyone? Absolutely, start by opening it up countrywide instead of just within individual states, take away regulation that says insurers have to cover abortions and all the other BS that only a very few people need, then get some real tort reform so doctors can do their job instead of waiting for the next welfare recipient to try and get rich by suing a doctor. This really isn't that hard, and to try and completely revamp a system which already works great for 95% of America is just plain stupid. If you want to pay the healthcare premiums for illegal aliens, sign right up on the dotted line. Personally, I'd rather just pay for my family's needs.
Oh, and the stuff about that he's trying to reach out to Republicans? Try opening a newspaper and read up on how Pelosi and Reid wanted to ramrod this healthcare plan through before summer session and also trying to rebuff the constitution and push it through without the proper amount of votes. Reaching out, my ass. Reaching around maybe. They're all in bed together.

Re: March for health care!
^^ Don't confuse the military with the government (i.e. the VA)
The military can't take care of shit because there is too many people that do things by-the-books instead of doing things using some common fucking sense.

Only intelligent thing I've heard in this thread, couldn't have said it better myself. The QUALITY of our healthcare is actually some of the best in the world. Its our payer system that sucks, as well as just the cost of healthcare. That can be fixed without 50%+ income tax and a crappy system that the gov't tries to implement. However, it will be incremental. It'll start with a gov't payer option, and the option to use your own payer. But if some people in gov't had their way, eventually it would be the only payer... 1 payer system.
Oh, and about the Obama visiting schools thing. He's trying to push curriculum through (which the federal gov't is NOT empowered to do) that asks questions like, "In what way does President Obama inspire you?" If you can't see that as propaganda, then I'm sorry.

Re: March for health care!
in my opinion the health care system is fine, it just that the government isn't getting their money back due to all the state appointed healthcare programs and all the people that use these "free" healthcare programs to their advantage, which gives them a huge debt, even though tax payers are paying for it. So in all reality i feel that they used the people to screw themselves, and now they are just gonne screw it up more.

Think again. Compare a toll road to (paid for by tolls rather than taxes so if anything its actually costing you less to drive on) to lets say Hwy 169 for example. One on smooth and generally free-flowing, the other is rough and backs up quite often; I'll let you figure out which is which. Our road system here is a nightmare compared to a lot of other areas of the country and MNDOT always seems to be one step behind when it comes to updates/expansions. Enough said.

St. Cloud would be a great example of how well MN DOT is one step behind, this city is a fucking nightmare traffic wise. It takes me 20 minutes to get to the grocery store thats about 2 miles away.

But would it have been good scotch? Perhaps taken from someone else's liquor cabinet?
Congrats on the new addition!

Even Channel 5 news, typically liberal as are most, called this plan socialism today when I had it on before work!

Re: March for health care!
There is a certain logic to the public plan that I like. Larger pools of insured lower premiums for everyone. Also you'd have coverage if you lost you job. It really hits home to me because my small employer just raised our premium contribution by $100 a month. The boss said he had to do it, drop health insurance all together, or go out of business. I don't know if any of you have had the unfortunate situation of having to get health care whilst unemployed, but the cheapest plans go for $100 a month with $5000 deductibles. How are you suppoed to afford a hospital visit costing $5000 while unemployed? Plus if my boss didn't have to pay high premiums he could afford to give all the employees the raises we've forgone for the last few years. Boss told us he spends $20000 on each of us for healthcare. So by no means think that you get "free" healthcare from your employer. It's costing you a whole lot in wages.

I agree with some of your points about how expensive coverage is for employers, but about this...

That already exists. Its called state continuation, or if the employer has more than 20 employees, its COBRA. In Florida, its called Mini COBRA, and in California, its called Cal-COBRA.
