Rusted hood?

Do you guys think this would look good on a black GVR4? My hood is already rusty and an ugly faded primer black.

Re: Rusted hood?

Haha!! So do they just let it build up some surface rust, then slap some kind of sealer or dull clear coat on it so it doesn't rust to pieces?

Re: Rusted hood?

They actually put something on it to get it to rust like that, if I recall correctly, then they clearcoat it.

anna has been working on going for this look on her vw; scraping away bit by bit of the paint so it gets rusty, and never ever washing it

Re: Rusted hood?

wow... That's the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Once it starts rusting like that, it won't just stop because you put clearcoat on it. Sure it'll slow it down for a month or two, but eventually it'll bubble the clearcoat off and rust even worse.

Re: Rusted hood?

I dont understand this trend?? What is so cool about it? Well I guess you could pull this off with sortafit $50.00 hoods. Thats the only way I would do this because I wouldnt feel bad for wrecking orignal sheet metal.

So i guess my old yard truck was a trend waiting to happen??? lol

My hood is already ugly as sin and rotting away as you can see. My question is does the rat rod rust look better than the rusty primer? I kinda like the look on late 80s and early 90s German coupes and sedans. The GVR4 has a bit of the euro look and I think could pull it off?

Just looking for feedback

I know if I did this it would only inforce the $400 POS beater mentality people would have of the car. To me kicking someones ass in a race with a ratted out beater makes the win that much sweeter.

Hey I saw you at the gun show on Saturday parked on the street. I like how your car looks.

I personally would try and find a nice hood and give it a flat black sealer look. Maybe some PPG DP90 primer sealer, it would still be flat black, but would still protect the hood from the elements. Thats what I would do because I would try and give it a rally look from back in the day. I still think flat black hood against a black car looks wickid.
