Bigger brakes behind 16's?

Anyone have ideas? I know i've spoken to steve on this idea, but can't seem to find anymore info on it. If it matters, they are Kosei K1's 16x 8" I believe. Offset is like +40 or +42. Yes, they stick out a little bit..looks aggressive. Anyway, what options are there? I currently roll on single piston calipers, with crappy warped rotors (rears are with no pads) but I'm looking to upgrade over the winter as well as the rest of the shit I've got planned. Ideas? And, no I won't get a baer or brembo big brake kit, and sell the kosei's. I love my wheels too much, and they are really light with drags on them.

Baer Street Kit.

Same calipers as the 13" track-kit, but they use a 12" rotor instead. They'll fit behind all aftermarket 16's.

Re: Bigger brakes behind 16's?

The AEM big rotors should fit with the factory 2-piston brakes as well. I tried them with some cheap 16's I used to have and they barely fit when I ground down the calipers. The Kosei's are kinda made for bigger brakes if I remember right.

Re: Bigger brakes behind 16's?

I would just get some 2g AWD 2 piston calipers if I were you. I snagged a pair for dirt cheap a couple winters ago and I love them, definate improvement over the stock ones. They are pretty cheap too, I ran across a person selling them for $80 for the pair.... it was either here or another board, if you are interested I will rustle up a link.

Re: Bigger brakes behind 16's?

Why the 2g ones? The brake lines are different. 2gs use a banjo bolt setup vs threading directly into the caliper. Which would mean you would have to buy new brake lines as well (not necc. a bad thing), but im not sure if they fit perfectly as far as length goes and the holding brackets. Why not just order the 93-94 AWD ones.

Here ya go, they come complete with the brackets and even pads and shims. Advance Auto Parts. Print the pages out and they have to price match, or sometimes I have found they are cheaper at the store. All this for a whopping $220 or so with tax.

As for the core charge....I could tell you what I do. But, I think we all know.

Re: Bigger brakes behind 16's?

Mine went on fine... except that I needed to find a way to affix the brake line bracket or whatever you want to call it down about an inch so the second part of the line could stretch to the caliper. I think I just fabbed up a little bracket for it, no biggie.
