It has nothing to do with cost and everything to do with surge and power delivery. I'm able to get 20psi out of the PTE by 3400rpm. That much power coming on so quick is asking for driveline problems.
Ball bearing turbo would probably spool 500-600rpm quicker and that's going to surge and break shit. Granted the FP turbine housing and compressor housing is quite a bit larger than the PTE and should slow the spool down a bit. I would estimate a non-BB 3065 would spool 100-200 rpm slower than what I have now and the BB 3065 would probably spool 100-200rpm quicker.
