pulled over... again

i just need to vent for a minute.

i got pulled over again for my tint. first time was in feb, tint was at 26%. this morning, 24%... at least the meter had a nice little sticker on it that said +/- 2%. the first time was just a warning to take it off.

anyway, i was driving to work down 494 in the right lane just cruising as usual, and a state trooper is sitting under a bridge around hwy 7. im looking at him as i drive by, and he stares back at me and he starts rolling. he lights me up on the off ramp to 62. i slow down, roll down my window, put my hand out and point to right to show him im going to pull over on 62 cause theres no room on the ramp. he gives me the ok sign.

he gets out of his car, and i said to myself "fuck."

SAME TROOPER that pulled me over the first time. i wasnt going to get out of it. he came up to me, looked at my license and said "peter, i thought i told you to get your tint taken off." DAMMIT.

i could sit here and say all the normal things... fuck him, doesnt he have anything better to do, what about all the other idiots on the road blah blah blah... but i brought this upon myself.

i also think hes just hating on my kick ass (i mean POS) galant :P

so heres the actual rant...
- $142 fucking ticket
- my car is overheating and i have no fucking clue why
- my brakes are almost fucking shot.
- my fucking gauges still arent working like they should

its 8:06am, and i could go for a beer already.

He is trying to catch you ridin' dirtay

That sucks you're having all those problems with your car. Are you going to remove the tint and get something lighter? I have 35% and never been hassled about it even when pulled over for something else.

Re: pulled over... again

25% is getting down there, it is really obvious. I have had 35% in the past and usually don't get flack about that, depends on how much window area there is to light up the inside still. I would just redo the front 2 windows in 35% or since he is gunning for you, strip the front 2 for a while so he sees it and then get them redone.

Re: pulled over... again

That sucks, that's the one thing you have to deal with with dark tint, the possibility of contant tickets. As far as the car overheating, get a new thermostat in there quick.

i i have 35% too, but apparently with the factory tint on the windows it drops it to around 25.

i was pulled over up north for speeding last year, when in fact, i was really speeding haha, but the trooper didnt say a word about my tint.

i really think this trooper just doesnt like me *shrug*

im going to take it all off tonight and get it redone sometime in the future. i need to get the car running like it should first but i cant figure out the overheating issue... ill end up taking it to a shop and getting raped.

Re: pulled over... again

Redo the fronts in 50% then, only the front windows need to be the lower tint.

In MN no car window may be tinted below 50% legally. The law does not apply to trucks, vans, or SUV's.

Re: pulled over... again

The law does apply to trucks, vans, SUV's as well, but it states that the FRONT windows cannot be darker than 50% on any vehicle. Your back windows can be as dark as you want, but since you drive a 2 door, you're limited to your rear triangles and the rear hatch.

I ran 30% all around on my 2G & never had a problem. I also run 30% all around on my Evo, and have only been minorly harassed about it once.

Scheides- no car can have darker than 50% on any windows, even rears. Trucks and vans have different laws.

Not true. Go read the actual law about window tint. All windows are supposed to be at 50%.

I once thought on a passenger vehicle only the driver and passenger windowns applied but I got pulled over for my tint on the GTP and he said that all windows fall under the same category.

Even if they can't get a meter on it, if they think its illegal they can ticket you.

Assholes! I just did a bunch of googling and everything came back as you guys stated, no more than 50% anywhere. Damn it!

Re: pulled over... again

Limos are an exception somewhere in the laws. If the passenger vehicle is 'so long' it can be deemed as a limo if it is used for transporting passengers as a buisness.

The thing I don't get is what is the difference between a 4 door SUV or Truck vs. a 4 door car? I see SUV ridin dirty down here all the time with limo tint. And I get pulled over in my GTP for having dark tint? Come on.

Re: pulled over... again

That is true that the law actually states that, but I have had 2 cars with darker rear 1/4 windows and rear window and have never been harrassed because I had 50% on the side windows. Other cars with 35% all the way around, I have been harrassed with. Most of the cops won't realize that the windows are different from 35% to 50% and you can get by with it. If you limo tint them, then it will be obvious.
