I think its smart. Like he said, so much goes into it and you gotta be careful for something that you can't always control. I'd rather boost then have nitros.

I'd rather have a redhead over a blonde, but if the option is there to use them both at the same time you don't continue to pick one over the other! PLEASE try and understand it that way.

Haha, watch the red-head comments, your talking to one!
Anyways, I guess I see your point, but I am a girl I guess I just perfer not having nitros. Any way I explain myself will never satisfy you guys, so I will just leave it a lone. And I'm not saying I would never use nitros, I'm just saying that it would always be last resort. Not that Shep needs it anyways.

Someone has never seen, used, or really understands the use of nitrous. Just like allen said, if the option / need for both is there, DO IT UP. You do what you have to do to hit that goal.

I plan on using nitrous with my car if I can get it running right. I am not even going to install it until I can get it runing good. Then we will see if I feel the need for it or not.

Even Shep has blown intake manifolds apart from a nitrous explosion, just ask the timing shack guy at the shootout a couple years ago. Unless you're chasing Shep, I don't see the point, everybody and their grandma is running nines without N2O these days.

Re: Shep goes 8.1@177.6mph at ATCO
I am not sure what I want to do yet. I am now FWD and would maybe like more topend power if I go to the track. Maybe even to just help spool the turbo quicker. I have a few kits just sitting here so it is tempting. I am not sure if I will do it though.

Re: Shep goes 8.1@177.6mph at ATCO
I have sprayed anything and everything, including gasoline engines & diesels. I've used turbo kits in a bunch of configurations...twin turbos to large single turbos. Every damn supercharger setup from Vortec A-trim to YS-trim, ProChargers, Paxtons, Powerdynes, I tried them all at one point or another. I've used nitrous systems from so many damn companies that have come and gone, and even made some kits myself with stuff I bought out of Grainger catalogs and pieces I had laying around. My hands down favorite for a drag racing power adder is N2O. Super cheap, easy to tune, reliable, repeatable, no belts to throw, no exaust routing nightmare and easy to maintain. For a daily driver, I've been a turbo fan since I had my first turbo Buick. It's hard to beat the on damand torque from a properly sized turbo combination on the street, and torque is what makes it enjoyable to drive. Now if someone out there wants to take a Mitsu 2.0, turbo it, spray it and even get close to running 7's in a car with a production head, production block, production trans and tons of factory parts and you want to dismiss it because "he's spraying", what in the hell would impress you? Ride in a solid mid 10 second nitrous car and the last thing on your mind will be, "Well it was fast, but you were spraying." Fast is fast, no matter how you get there.

Most of the guys nowdays are running nitrous to get into the 9s. It is more common now than a few years ago. Look at the DSMTimes list. 2 out of the 3 2Gs in the 9s are running nitrous and 13 out of the 17 1Gs running 9s or faster are on the bottle.

Affordable widebands. I believe that's the reason so many people are stacking poweradders now. Ten years ago it was uncommon to even see an EGT guage in a car for tuning purposes. Now you can pick up a wideband for a few hundred bucks and tune the car to perfection with very little hassle and without guessing what your A/F is. I have seen countless pistons melted with the old open loop Accel DFI setups. One wrong keystroke, go lean and instant molten aluminum. The majority of it was trial and error. The cylinder pressures in Shep's 2.0 have got to be something unbelievable on the bottle, and controlling that is amazing, simply amazing.

Thats why he uses 400,000 psi head studs, compared to the normal ARP at 180,000 psi.

40+psi and 11:1 compression ratio, then add some nitrous. I really want to be in the passenger seat!

For those of you that haven't heard.....He did it. Ran a 7.97 at near enough to 180 mph.
From NHRA.com:
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r=100#indextop
He posted a in-car vid on dsmtuners.com in the track talk.
