Good choice on removing the A/C. Don't forget the A/C fan and the seperate fusebox (I think 2G's have a seperate one like the 1G's do).

I'm also thinking about removing the AC for better cooling of the radiator. Last year my temps would hover around 215 degrees on the freeway after installing the FMIC. :razz2:

We all get the bug at one time or another. Just don't be like me, leave your cash, check book and credit cards at home when you go to QPR...
If only I hadn't needed the BOV crushed... :headache:

well, the stuff came out today... most of it anyways..
Its hard to get to the back of the engine with all the chit in the way so i'm taking the trany out and a whole bunch of the little brackets so that i can get the compressor out.. and get the new clutch in.. and then port the exhaust mani.. and then mount the stuff back. tow the car to QPR to get the external WG welded in and then to Elite for tuning..
if it was only THAT simple

ENES you rock!!!! Starting to look like a 2G FWD drag car is in the makings.
ya I took out all the A/C stuff including the decompressor and my engine temps still sit at about 215.
I never had these problems in the GS-T.

A lower temp stat is on my list of mods. Most of the time I was able to keep the temps around 205-210 but on the freeway coming back from rock falls, 97 degrees outside temp, I was around 215 degrees at 75-80MPH.

Because the stock gauge dont have numbers on it.. at least none that i remember, haven't been in the car more than half an hour combined in last 7 months..

DSMLINK V2 OWNZ you!!!
I log my engine temps at all times when I drive my car.
I keep getting the Checker Thermostat which is supposed to be 180degree's.
But I think next time around I'm going to switch. Anyone have any recommendations on brand's, etc?

2G seem to run hotter than 1Gs for some reason. I don't if they are truely running hotter or if its something in the sensor or logging that just reports it as being a little hotter on 2Gs.

Enes, I get my temps from my logger. I am running a 180* Napa thermostat and it seems to be fine...but I've only had it for a week. It plus a gasket was only something like $8 or $9. I do dislike the Napa gasket though, the bolt-holes don't line up properly and there is a lot of over-hang for a sloppy look. The gasket I got from Autozone way back when was a lot nicer.

Enes I have a logger for my 2g which displays coolant temps. At 220 the stock gauge is right in the middle, I've only seen it go above the middle once when I overheated. You really can't rely on the stock gauge for precise coolant temps.
Wish I could remember what my coolant temps were before I installed the fmic. I never really paid attention as my temps were not an issue back then, I think they were around 200 so I just quit logging it till I got the fmic. I would like to log someones 2g sometime who doesn't have a fmic just to see what temps it runs at.
