Lookey what I got in the mail this morning, just in time for an evo modfest...
I ended up working from home a bit this morning and was graced with a knock from the FedEx man, with a package from Speed Element!
BLOX front motor mount! These things look AWESOME, looks like CNC'd aluminum and a nice beefy poly mount with a solid piece of metal for the bolt to slide through.
And like the title said, just in time for an Evo Modfest at my place this weekend! We're installing these on my car and Kracka's IX tomorrow night, after he arrives back from an 9-hour round-trip to pick up an IX with someone else (Zac, think he just registered here as 'hellomynameis'). Also hoping for a few other Evo guys to stop by for some NLTS and basic street-tuning action! Stay tuned for updates!

I'm excited to get mine installed!
Tomorrow I'm heading to WI with Zac, an old college/DSM buddy of mine, so he can get a silver IX GSR and we're going to tear into it right away when we get it home. I'll actually probably start the ECU reflashes/mods while we're still in WI

Is that mount supposed to help with the rear end clunk under hard shifting?

Probably not, its just to keep engine movement down which leads to more power to the ground and smoother shifts since the tranny isn't flopping around.

Is it wrong that I still prefer solid mounts by means of injection?
THose do look nice though!

It also means hang onto your fillings at idle.

No, it is meant to keep the engine/transmission from flexing back and forth, improving shifting. The rearend thump you hear is your rear diff bouncing around. Buschur makes replacement bushings to help with this; they are cheap but they are a PITA to install. BR also makes a replacement rear 'mustache bar' (leave the BR jokes out of this one please ) that includes smaller, stiffer bushings. Apparently this also helps put power down too, as most people with it say that the power put down to the ground feels more solid, more precise. Also saves 10 pounds or so.

Well that's the idea with doing *just* the front mount. I had poly mounts on my 2G and with the balance shaft gone and stock cams the car did rattle quite a lot at idle. Doing just the front one I'm hoping to keep the motor from flexing as much when shifting and whatnot, and yet keep my sanity at idle. Then again, I do have 280's in the car so idle is not exactly smooth anyways I'm really hoping for a happy medium here. If it is too harsh, it will come back out.

Yea, but you are a stone-cold bad-ass, while we are merely little mossy fluffers, really only along for the ride but kinda want in on the action...

Nice I can come over and help out as well if you want. Then after we get done with that, we could do another boost leak test on mine?

haha! You don't need a back yard, so you could just build it right up to the back of your house!

Jesus, the rear end thumps stock? that's aweful. the quest diff thumps when the bushings break and separate from the metal. How do you get it to clunk? hard shifting or hard launches or what?
