Thumbs down Re: Boost leak test and...

[QUOTE=JET]Don't say something unless you know what the hell you are talking about. Are the vacuum lines connected to the intake manifold? Yes. Does it pressurize the intake manifold? Yes. Therefore it has to put pressure to the vacuum lines also.[/QUOTE

actually it dose not fully pressurize the manifold why would you want it to thats the meaning of boost leak tester not manifold tester if you wanted to you could open the TB an then it would some an maybe you shouldnt be a smart ass if you dont know what your talking about

Alright, I can't believe you haven't been banned yet. This is a tech thread, stop giving us headaches trying to read your posts. I will say it again, shut up if you don't know what you are talking about, at least in a tech thread. In a boost leak test the air will easily pressurize the intake manifold. Your boost guage reading is coming from the intake manifold, so if that reads pressure then you have to have pressure in the manifold!

Re: Boost leak test and...

Ok i explained that a little wrong it depends on what line your gauge is hooked up to
if its on the fpr line or the solenoid on the fire wall which is 12v an takes power to turn it on so if you didnt have the key on that could be why or the engine might have to be started which you cant do with a boost leak tester on the car. And i belive that the vacuum ports on the TB are after the TB plate which means they wouldnt see full boost or vacuum unless the TB is open. An I dont have all the vacuum lines on my car i pulled them all except the ones i needed an i got rid of all the solenoids if ya didnt know you can do that it gets rid of the extra cludder an just something extra to go wrong.

It makes no difference where you have your gauge hooked up too. When you hook the tester up and fill the system it's just like the turbo spooling so you should see the gauge move.

And start using your fucking shift key or your stay here will be short.

Re: Boost leak test and...

You want it to pressurize the intake manifold, because often that is the biggest problem area. And boost will have no problem getting into the intake manifold with the TB closed. If air couldn't get past the TB plate when throttle is closed, then the car wouldn't be able to idle. If you put 30 psi of pressure into your turbo inlet and you don't see any boost on your gauge, then you have a major leak or 20.
