It would be sweet if they would bring back the 2g/1g =/
Mitsu needs a real sports car. A grand tourer (what the 3/S was) would be nice too. [/b][/quote]
Starion. the only "real" sports car mitsu ever made.

Going by conventional standards this is true. DSM's were econo, 3/S's were GT cars, and I don't know what to even consider the EVO's and GVR4's but it surely wasn't/isn't sports cars.

When the 3g came out, there was talk of a "GS-R" model. 4G63 210 hp RWD. That would have been a great platform. DSM like power with RWD in a wider and shorter platform.

Too bad they almost went broke.

Too bad Mitsu's only 'sports car' never really works then....no wonder they stopped making them :fworld:

Anyhoo i still think the next eclipse will turn out to be a pussy car, maybe not when compared to the new 'standard' but when compared to something like a MODDED starion/dsm/3s, it's going to be a joke. Just my take...

Seriously dude, stop ragging on your car so much. The only reason it is a POS is b/c you made it like that. Reid's has been fine for the past 3 years, all depends how you treat it and if you do the work properly.

I'm well aware that I put the car in the condition it's in. It's blatantly obvious I haven't done some of the work right. However, I HAVE done quite a bit correct...it was a big POS when i bought it and after a ton of work it's still a POS...it just makes more power, looks better, and has more money invested in it. I was just joking around in my last comment anyway. I'm sure many DSMers feel the same way about their car also. I'll rag on it as much as I want also, it is MINE. :stick: I could honestly care less about it at this time, hence my lack of posting about it over the past month or so.

Anyhoo...yes, i agree that the engine is one of the worst motor they have made. But it's incredibly fun when it works right, which (if done right) is most of the time. The main point of driving the G54B is torque, it is a truck engine after all. To each their own, eh?

But, the rest of the car is rather impressive, especially for the year it was made. But this isn't a thread about the starion, it's about the 4g, right?

I would love to have a MR Edition EVO, but I would drive it like it was made to be drive, and that would void your warranty. so fuck Mitsu! :3gears: :rally:

I Know how warranties get voided. Trust me.

I have no sympathy for anyone who has a voided warranty.

When I worked for Mitsu, I witnessed so many voided warranties over the stupid things like this one guy that had a NOS gauge in his car on the a-piller, not even hooked up. totally stock outher than that, or this outher guy that needed a new turbo on his 2G totally stock, but because he never rotated his tires, and had a racing sticker on the rear glass -VOID-. That was Jims style Void Void Void! ha ha ha ha. :headache:

They wouldn't replace my friends clutch when it failed on his evo after about 6500 miles. I mean of course he didn't baby the car, but he wasn't launch crazy or anything. He drove it like one would think an EVO owner would drive it. Said right in the front of the owners manual that the clutch has warantee on it for like a year or 12k miles or sumthin like that. Fuckin liars.

Cant you fight that? Like either talk to the manager or take it to court or what? They can get away with that. Written warranty is supposed to mean something.

no shit, i'd go to a different dealer. a warranty is a contract, it can't be voided for no apparent reason (as you're saying was the case with your friend's clutch)

i think people just give in too easy. the burden of proof is on the dealer to be breaking the contract.

A lot of EVO guys I've talked with said Mitsu has been great on the warranty work, I really think it all has to do with how the customer/owner holds themself and communicates with the dealership. I am sure it does vary with region though, most of these guys have not been from the Midwest.

Say What? Go on the evo forums and listen to what they say about mitsu waranteeing those things. They have some shady warantee policies. He is far from being alone on the clutch thing. Those things burn the stock clutches left and right, and mistu blames it on the driving, not the product. Tons of people have tried taking legal approaches and nothing has ever come of it. You can't just talk to a manager about it because the clutch warantee denials are coming from the head hancho guys of MMC. If the individual dealer wants to replace it for free, then they're paying for it outta their pocket. They aren't getting reimbursed from MMC though because the head guys have already decided to deny all clutch warantees for the most part. They've even sent scouts to tracks just to get pictures of evo owners racing so they can void any warantees when they come in for warantee work. I love the cars, but they leave you hangin that's for sure.

and also about it depending on how you communicate with the dealer. First off we couldn't just go to another dealer because the next closest one was over 200 miles away. And we new the guys at the dealership very well because we were always there buying shit for our dsm's. We were actually there just to pick up a dipstick for my gst and ended up leaving with a dipstick and an evo. We were in real good with them, but the decision to void the clutch came from much higher up, and they weren't gunna cover the thousand dollar price tag for the work outta their pocket.

He's what Mitsu Motors North America has to say about it:
http://media.mitsubishicars.com/detail?mid...860287&mime=ASC

I think the warranty thing has been blown out of proportion by people expecting handouts.

I'm having to change the OEM clutch I put in my Talon after less then 5000 miles. Maybe I should try and get a free one because I didn't know that it couldn't handle a 2.4L with a 50 trim? It's Mitsu's fault! (Before anyone freaks out, yes I know the Evo comes with a crappy clutch, but so should any potential buyer at this point, I'm not going to cry for you)

By the way anyone know the fastest time someone has run on a stock clutch? Can anyone beat 12.75?

Riiiiight. If you're running that setup with a stock clutch then you oughta slap yourself.

So you're comparing some warantee for a 2.4 powered 9 year old talon to that of a 4 month old EVO with 6500 miles on it and a mod list of only a turbo timer? Don't see how he's lookin for a free handout. Him and a large amount of other EVO owners have had clutches die within months of getting the car with no mods done. I just think they shoulda thrown a clutch in there that could support it in it's stock form, or honor the warantee written right there in the front of the manual. Oh and that link was useless.
