Well in talking to a "mitsu insider" here's what I've heard:

2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse will look EXACTLY like the E-Concept.

FWD for sure, possible AWD variant to follow, 3.8L SOHC V6 260hp

2006 Could also bring:

Galant Ralliart: 3.8L AWD SOHC V6 260 hp

Endeavor Ralliart: 4G63 AWD 250 hp

I was also told that there should be some major overhauling of the Lancer lineup with the new MR coming soon. Lancer platform could become 4G63 Dominant, with more Evo like models and trim available than not. More remenisant of RS GS GS-T GSX rather than ES, GS, RS, EX, OZ, Ralliart, etc....

Let the shit talking begin... :bounce:

Super Bleeder!! 09-09-2004 04:08 AM

a pair of those Endeavor Rally things won their class of the Dakar Rally last year

MR is going to be out this fall....about $33k a bit more power and some nice suspension work, plus those airfoils.

And 6 speed!

I think all of the Evos will have the new turbo next year, not just the MR.

The Eclipse will also be a 6 speed.

The galant ralliart is rumored to have the same 6 speed.

Diamante and Montereo Full Size are both gone after this year.

Heres the problem! I want an Evo. That looks like the Evo 8, big wing and all, with the upgrades of the Evo RS, except probably with the jungle pack so I can have AC which I really dont like but compared to the SRT4 Its like it needs it. Then the MR is coming out with 6 speed and who knows what all other mods. Its getting to the point where I am just going to have to buy 2.

illz 09-09-2004 12:52 PM

the MR has the ACD and AYC.

3.8L V6 for 260hp makes me wanna cry. Sad.

JDM 09-09-2004 04:47 PM

The 4g will be here in June. Prices stay the same, even though you get more power.

If an Endevor "evolution" comes, that could be the perfect family grocery go getter...

Kracka 09-09-2004 05:28 PM

The EVO MR does not have a new turbo, it is the same 16G. They are getting more power by upping the boost to a peak of 20.x.

Blade 09-09-2004 05:43 PM

I have seen pics of the 4g Eclipse, and I dont like it. If you get SCC, its in the sept issue I think. I really dont like them at all. Heres some pics...http://www.thecarconnection.com/imag...8155_image.jpg

It would be sweet if they would bring back the 2g/1g =/

Mitsu needs a real sports car. A grand tourer (what the 3/S was) would be nice too.

Khadgar 09-09-2004 07:06 PM

It seems like in the late 90's all the grand tourers dissapeared, was there a reason for it?

JDM 09-09-2004 07:22 PM

Those pictures are crap. They don't do it justice at all

The hood is shorter as seen, but without the "Transformers" style bumps on the hood. Everything is VERY smooth. They went back to the tear drop "cab forward" design from the 2g. The rear end is going to be much higher than the 3g as shown, but very smooth. The B pillar will hold the mirrors on the doors, and the C pillar and rear side window will look VERY remenisant of the 2g. Like I said above, these are just spy photos of bare bones prototypes of the car. The car is to look exactly like the E Concept.

I guess they weren't meeting emissions over in Japan. Once the Gentlemen's Agreement expires in 2006 expect some new super cars to be coming out.

Wrong the turbo nozzle was made bigger and the wastegate flapper is now an oval. I don't think that gives it much of a power gain though, but it is different. Yes, they did raise the boost too for the 5hp power gain (probably under rated).

In a magazine the MR and Sti made the same hp!

Yeah I knew that much, but it hardly makes it a new turbo...just an updated design using the same wheels.

And all the companies started pricing them way too high. Once the Supra and 3kGT got more expensive than a 'Vette it was all over.
