Re: T-case bracing?

Aaron, just dishing it back .

I'd hafta dig up examples, but I know brent bennyhoff, jake montgomery, and others whom I don't know by name have grenaded their t-cases (1 including that green 1g on talk, if I remember correctly..big ted is his name?) My t-case and tranny are from a 91 galant, and for that reason, I dunno why, but the t-case is aluminum. I have thought about swapping the internals over to a cast case, but I found this pic earlier today, and got wheels in my head turning, and we all know what happens when wheels in my head turn (besides a headache)..

When you are close to running their times then I think it could be a valid point to consider doing this. Until then you need to first get your car together, running correctly and down the strip because you really need to stop kidding yourself and everyone here about how awesome your car is/will be.

Re: T-case bracing?

I'm not kidding anyone. What's wrong with doing research, and trying to prevent anything from going wrong? I swear every time I raise a question unasked by others, I get shit from assholes like you. Don't like the question, then keep your opinion to yourself. Not once did I say I was fast, cool, or anything. Last I checked the ownership of the car was MINE, not yours.

Of course you're kidding people. You are looking into a modification that you don't even know your car needs for sure. For all you and the rest of us knows your car will never see the track! This thread is on the same level of ridiculousness as if I were to start a thread about putting a roll cage in my car because I want to stiffen up the chassis and I'm afraid of it rolling over at autocross because I might get sticky tires... some day.

Re: T-case bracing?

Just get another one for a backup. They are cheap enough and easy enough to install where it wouldn't be a big deal if you messed one up. If you happen to break yours, maybe you can spend a little time beefing up a second one. I wouldn't worry about breaking it just because a select few people have especially with how cheap they are. Just my opinion though.

Dont forget to run a brace that braces the brace. Also put a brace inside the parachute.

Re: T-case bracing?

Waste of time. I split mine in half at the shootout in 2001 or so, that piece of shit brace pictured wouldn't help with squat. You'd have to brace it from top to bottom and side to side on the front of the case, where the gears mesh at the 90 degree angle. There's not room to do that under the oil pan so it's a moot point. Keep a spare in the trunk and call it a day.
