Re: How many miles before getting a tune?

Well I already have the amsoil so maybe I'll just run that for 500 then switch to the super tech conventional. Map recommended waiting until 1500 to switch to synthetic so ill probably try that this time around.

What weight Supertech do you use? Just a straight 30 like the amsoil or something different?

10W-30, then at 1k miles he'll switch to 10W-40 synthetic (maybe experiment with 20W-50 in the hot summer months).

Once he's on synthetic he'll be dyno-tuned. We'd honestly probably only worry about a 500 mile break-in but we want to make sure the segmented Kevlar clutch disc gets properly broken in before beating on it too badly.

Okay thanks for the info guys! Map recommends changing the oil at 50 miles then 500 miles. So maybe ill run the break in oil for the first 20-50 miles then change it then run the rest of it that I have until somewhere between 100 and 250 miles then change it again and switch to a conventional for 1,000 to 1500 miles then switch to synthetic.

And I'll get her tuned at like 500 miles

I think with the amount of money I have wrapped up in this engine I'm just a little overly paranoid and want to make sure everything goes good

Completely understandable! I actually like your idea of Amsoil break-in oil for the first 50, then conventional, then synthetic.

Re: How many miles before getting a tune?

Seems like a good idea to me too. Plus I really can't justify driving out to Cottage Grove to return it so might as well use it lol
