This would be the perfect car to learn on, too. If I had a garage (or even a driveway), a second car to run for parts in, and a way to trailer it home then I would. The reality is that I'm stranded at home right now and don't have the other two things.

I just got the $800 estimate. Holy shit. Between this bill and the stereo I've doubled the price of the car.

This is the shitty part about owning a cheap car...things are just waiting to break.

i hope i luck out on mine...the body damage from the accident is ghetto fixed and i spent 400 on parts to fix all the maintenance stuff.

Why is it so much to fix? Seems awfully high. Just labor?

Mostly labor but I suspect they're fucking me on parts, too. Those water pumps are $29 at cost. I'll know when I see the bill.

This car has a water pump driven by the timing belt so everything on the side of the motor has to come off. The timing belt was smoking pretty good since the water pump was no longer turning, etc.
