Most of the parts used in the trannies made by places like TRE, Shep, BM, Dogbox, etc are stock Mitsu tranny parts, except for the real dogbox gearset trannies that places like Shep and Magnus sell. Pretty much they pick the best parts from different years of the DSM trannies(maybe some older Evo parts too) and assemble them correctly into 1 tranny. Careful assembly and proper shimming is what you are paying for and what makes a big difference in shifting ability at high RPMs. Anybody can put together a DSM tranny with stronger parts, but you pay Shep to put it together in the way and with the clearances, endplay, preload, etc that he has found over the years of racing to work well.
