I am sure the knock problem has something to do with carbon build up or that the car wasn't warmed up enough. I had excessive carbon buildup on my pistons and whenever I punched the gas I would build a high knock count untill I let off. If I hit it again right away the knock would be gone. I tried carb cleaner through the pcv valve and it didn't help much (although I could see carbon bieng burned off through the exhaust). I pulled the plugs and sprayed 2 cans of MCCC in and let it soak overnight. Car was fine afterwards. They were not small counts of knock I was experiencing though. Would usually get to 43 counts.
