Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Good or bad, post it up. We are looking to improve this event every year. So help us out, we want to know.
Tell us what the best part was, and what the worst part was.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
The only complaint I have is the announcer that Bir has. he seems to know nothing at all about the cars that were there and can't pronounce the word mitsubishi to save his life. I remember a a few years back at the muscle car shootout he was talking about Brent Rau's car and kept insisting it was a twin turbo lol. It would be cool if you could get someone to announce that had a clue what in the world he was talking about. If its not possible its not really to big of a deal just saying.

I tried lol, I went up stairs to the booth and told him how to pronounce it. I heard a lot of people complain about the same thing. It's hard to find an announcer who knows all the ins and outs of drag racing and knows our classes and event specifics.
Maybe next year I'll leave him a big sign that says Mitsubishi=Mitsoobeeshee lol.

There is a reason my second dog is named "Beeshe" and not "Bishi". :-)
I did hear through the grape vine that the car show portion was a mess again this year. A Stealth won "Best Domestic" WTF?

A centralized info center that is easily located and seen from a distance. In this info center, you will find info for ALL events taking place this weekend. Also you can buy your ticket to whatever event it is you want to do (i.e: AutoX, Drifting, road course, drags, ect…)

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Gonna have us a really simple contest.
We would love to get some solid feedback from those who attended Proving Grounds this year. The best and most helpful, constructive criticism posted will receive 1 of 10 free t-shirts. We want to make PG 2012 the best event possible, and we need your help to do it!
Simply follow the link to our facebook page, post your feedback in the proper status update, and we'll select winners from there.
To answer a question I know will be posted, the reason we are using facebook to host this is so we have 1 location to collect info from vs going through countless forums.
Thanks for taking the time to help us out!

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Payouts for drag, autox, road race, 1st - 3rd places. Actually keep track of places. Pair cars up better based on times in the classes. Post somewhat live results on Facebook and/or on a paper sheet somewhere. Have drag tech not take 2 hours, it should take 30 seconds to figure out what class a car goes in and check a few things over. Real awards ceremony, might be hard with some many things going on at such different times. Maybe do the drag eliminations in a way that all the finals are last, instead of just random based on number of cars in the field.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
I agree with Shane on the tech. more inspectors are needed or something because that was crazy.
I also think the Map event and diesel event are both getting to big to share a day. everytime I went up to make a pass it was at least a 1/2 to 1 hr wait.
Other then that a great event at a great track I'll definitly be back.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
I think they used to have a bracket racing class. You can bracket race at any track any day though, no fast imports are going to want to bracket race.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
It seemed like the trucks were always getting passes while the imports were waiting in the staging lanes. I would much rather see some sort of import vs domestic class or event instead of the trucks. I know the trucks are cool, just not "that" cool.

This. It seemed like the organization was kind of scattered. A list of fastest times for each event would be awesome. Even if it is posted at the end of the day people are still curious to see where everyone else is sitting.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Maybe the guy announcing just didn't like mitsu's, why not have someone from this site MC that cares and knows what he's talking about? Video of all of the head to head races in a bracket style setup to post on the internets so everyone can watch, I.E. members in texas.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
I would of announced the event for you!!
I heard tech inspection sucked and I agree on some kind of map when you enter or some kind of signage and such.

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
For whatever reason wherever I camped again this year it was nearly impossible to hear the announcer. This is somewhat a good thing but only b/c of the mitsubitchy shit, it would have been really really nice to actually be able to hear what class was being called instead of seeing them go rolling up there then go run for the car.
I couldn't give a shit about the power cruise or other upcoming events but I felt like those were kinda getting shoved down my throat all weekend.
Tech inspection, like others said speed it up somehow--I went to get inspected for drag while I was in between autoX heats--I ended up being late getting back for my second heat b/c of the wait, and we had a 30 minute break.
I know its the nature of the event being small but the diesel trucks really were a damper on saturday, but that almost made sunday that much more awesome!
+1 on centralizing info and registration
Biggest and most important? Unified classes between some or ALL events.
AutoX track was fucking EPIC, have the track be somewhat like that again next year and the organizers were fucking awesome. Tech took 30 seconds, driver's meeting took 3 minutes, we were racing before I knew what was happening. That's how it should be
I know there were issues with some individuals, but security was acting like mean big brothers/disgruntled cops/a-holes, not like shepherds of an awesome race track like last year.
With all that, just do it again next year and hope for the best! This year was better than last year, I know it is crazy organizing an event this big--overall I had a blast!
Oh, and don't ask me to post comments on facebook--I don't have an account and I don't want one

I wanted to take a second and mention to you, and others some things that are we can't help, and maybe if you understood why they took place, you could appreciate them more.
As well as explain, not make excuses, but let you know we've got some of these covered already.
Upcoming events like the Powercruise, our sponsors, and everyone that is at BIR during an event like this is a necessity to the event, and well as to BIR.
Powercruise gave us prizes to giveaway, you may not care about that personally, but others do. BIR sees every event they have up there as an opportunity to promote another. Without this marketing, the track would lose money, and then where would we race? Learn to appreciate these guys, without them, there is no track, or event to go to.
Tech is something that shouldn't have been an issue. BIR had scheduling issues with tech personnel. I know, it sucked, but next year we'll be good.
Security was stressed, we had a few too many issues sat night. We have a plan for that already in the works!
This year our attendance was enough that we will look to have the track just to ourselves!
Hope that answers a few things for you guys. We really do appreciate all the feedback, keep it coming!

As long as the prices can stay as good as they were. It's great to be able to go have a really fun weekend without spending a fortune. Thanks MAP!
