Which Exhaust Manifold?

Well guys I was wondering which exhaust manifold would be a good buy for my 97 gsx?
It has......

a 6-bolt in it,
I'm getting a dsmlink,
I have DKS cams(not installed yet),
16g turbo,
255 fuel pump,
650 injectors,
ported 2g exhaust manifold,
polished 1g rail w/ costom mounted Fp gauge,
aluminum radiator,
strut bar,
fmic,
arp hardware,
apexi N1 catback,
new timing belt,
'90 oil filter housing
and other small things.

As you guys can see I have a ported 2g exhaust manifold but I'm thinking better? any suggestions would help and if you guys think i need anything else just post.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

I'd just stay with your ported 2G, if you really want to upgrade go with a ported EVOIII.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

Alright, which one would be better though, a ported 2g exhaust manifold or a ported EVOIII exhaust manifold?

thanks

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

Ported EVOIII is better than a ported 2G, but the difference won't be all that drastic. What do you have for an o2 housing?

BTW, you don't have an air-to-air oil cooler

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

You could do a 1G throttle body and intake manifold, the stock 2G stuff isn't all that great. Those along with your new cams and DSMLink might give you some good top end power and a reason to raise the revlimiter in DSMLink.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

^ Do that and get a new o2 housing too. You can do either a tubular 2.5" style or a ported EVOIII o2 housing. Do you have a downpipe or just a catback exhaust? If you have just the catback you should get either the RRE or Apexi downpipe since that will provide a huge increase in power.

The O2 housings that LSE carries are real nice too. That's what I have on my car.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

I have a 1g intake mani and if you want it quick enough, a throttle body too. One guy has spoken for it on a different site, but this is like the 4th time he has said he wants something and the other 3 times he hasnt pulled through so I wont have any reservations selling it to you if you want it. Ha ha, kinda funny actually, I have a spare Apex'i 1g AWD cat delete down pipe too, but its pretty packed away. If you really need it, I can try to get at it next time I go back home. Let me know dude.

I wouldnt worry about ditching the 2g mani. IMO, unless you cracked or warped your 2g exhaust mani, it wouldnt be worth it to upgrade unless you were to go tubular and thats not for quite a while. Sure the Evo III is better but like s2kracka said, its not that big of a difference. I would however, invest in a Evo III or tubular o2 sensor housing. That is one area that seems to be pretty lacking in my opinion, especially those worthless 1g o2 housings.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

I just noticed he has a 6-bolt. So maybe he already have a 1G TB and 1G intake manifold.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

I do have a 1g intake manifold and a 1g throttle body. And an o2 housing would be good for the car?
And I do have the whole cat-back and down-pipe. Do you know how much the LSE o2 housings are running for?
Are they better then the EVOIII o2 sensor?

thanks sorry for all the noob questions.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

The LSE housing is better than the EVOIII housing. Check their website or section of this board, you might be able to find pricing. You can also search around for tubular o2 housings.

Re: Which Exhaust Manifold?

Their o2 housings are well worth the money. You sound a little unsure about the o2 housing. If you look at your exhaust mani, there is a little cord that goes into your o2 sensor. This sensor goes into the o2 housing. As far as exhaust mani's go. Keep your ported 2g. Tubular manis are nice, but they tend to crack and/or get really hot sometimes. There are lots of threads on here that discuss this topic on dsmtuners.com

Alright, sounds good, guess I'm a little more confident in what else I should do to the car.
