Before we went to Afghanistan my mom and her coworkers wouldn't stop talking about how they were worried that their sons would get drafted... My simple argument to shut my mom up was "We didn't draft in 1991, why would we draft now?" She never said another word about it.

this is a bigger war though and with the lowering media support they need to spark some interest so initiating the draft is how to do it, people are dying because these stupid fucking iraqies are suicide bombing us and we pulled most of our troops out. I hate this shit, i totally support our troops for what they are doing but i dont wanna see anymore people die because of this war. There has to be a reason that the people of iraq still are doing this, we are treating them like children... when they should be treated like the adults they are. I have a good friend that is over there and im even better friends with his wife that i went to school with in high school, i dont wanna see him die over this shit so, either pull all the troops out or launch an all out strike, but dont do it half ass like bush is doing, basically half the public is supporting what is going on over there so bush is doing a half ass war to keep the public happy... please dont vote bush for another term the dude is fucking stupid

I may be wrong... But I do believe there are constitutional amendments making it un-constitutional to institute a draft... And tom, got room for one more??? I have relatives in Ontario!! :rally:

I think I would be able to avoid because I am in school now (I think). But, if I was drafted, I would probly go and fight. It would give me a reason to get in shape. Drop a few tenths off my et huh Raptor?

I highly doubt there will ever be another draft simply because of the numbers we have in the military now compared to what we had back in the day when the draft was instituted. Granted that the military recruit numbers have dropped drastically recently, I still don't believe that will be enough to consider bringing the draft back.

I really wouldnt worry about it, so many people would have to die to deplete our current armed forces, then the reserves, then the national guard.
We have lost like 500 people in Iraq, no so, if nobody else joins the army, and we keeping fighting this war for ever, at that rate there wouldn't be a draft for like 200 years, and by then, I will have enough money to go to canada.

Why would they re-instate the draft? We aren't taking heavy casualities or down on man power or fighting an enemy that is giving much resistance. This isn't a war like Vietnam or WWII.

Very simply put, would you want somebody fighting next to you to want to be there or be somebody who got drafted and doesn't care about your ass one way or the other. The volunteer system is working and if we needed more people, I'm sure they would line up at the recruting office.

because of what happened with the vietnam war the only way they can draft people is if congress signs a declaration of war and they havent done that since kerea. that way the president cant get a wild hair up his ass like they did back then
