Running without a mbc
Ok correct me if im totally wrong, but if i take out the mbc and just connect the lines that go to the mbc, will that just use the boost that is set by the tial spring (7 psi)?

Re: Running without a mbc
Yes, as long as you don't have boost pressure applied to the top of the Tial.

Re: Running without a mbc
yeah there is no screw in the top of the tial, so i should just be able to do that without any problems. The reason is i think my elite mbc is messed up. I think i was told the initial setting on the mbc. should be when the little ball stops rattleing. which should be the lowest setting, well that setting is like 15 psi, which is more then i want to run. so i think the 7psi should be fine for now.
and i havnt even heard that tial open up so im hopeing that this will in effect test whether it is working or not. lol

Re: Running without a mbc
Why run less than 15 psi? If I remember correctly, 14 psi was stock.

Re: Running without a mbc
because i really want to hear if the wastegate is doing is job. and the bigger turbo also flows a lot more then the t28 right.

Re: Running without a mbc
If you are not "overboosting", the wastegate is doing it's job.
The bigger turbo will work more efficiently, but the airflow will probably stay the same or go up slightly, but nothing to worry about. Adding more boost will make the airflow go up, but that's what you want, isn't it?

Re: Running without a mbc
Stock injectors should work with 15 psi.

Re: Running without a mbc
see thats the thing the stock injectors arent working with the 15psi because its allowing too much air in, hence why i want to wait until i get the 680s on so i can turn it up with out knocking like a sonofabitch. So i figure 7 psi should be fine until i get it on the dyno and get my injectors.

Re: Running without a mbc
15 psi on the stock T25 does not equal 15 psi on a 50-trim....applause to Tom for taking the safe route and only running 7 psi for now.

Re: Running without a mbc
Speaking of this subject... I just want to get this clearified....
Ok if i see 15 psi on a t28 and 15 psi on a 50 trim, they are the same pound per square inch but but yet the 50 trim is somehow more boost? Well i know that the 50 trim has to work less to make that kind of boost pressure therefore causing the air to be cooler, but that doesnt change the simple fact that a pound is a pound no matter what temperature it is. So my question is, where do we see the difference? why get a bigger turbo? if you say this turbo flows better, but if its set for the same psi then it really doesnt matter about flow because theres the same wieght int he cylinders.
I pretty much know i sound like an idiot right now but can someone please explain a little, its one of those questions that no one dares to ask due to people making them feel like a total Noob.

Re: Running without a mbc
The 50-trim's air is more dense, hence more air volume per PSI.

Re: Running without a mbc
Bigger turbos have bigger exhaust wheels/exhaust housings also, so there is more made there also.

Re: Running without a mbc
and the bigger exhaust housings reduce backpressure, which lets the cylinders evacuate more of the spent charge, which makes more room for a fresh air (and power), blah blah blah

Sure it is. Its just the 50 trim has a slightly better flowing hotside to open VE up a little, hence a little more air flowing through the motor. If the hotsides were the same he would see no change except for temp changes. As long as he stays in the 30lb/min range he should be fine on stock injectors. 15 psi will be fine unless its arse cold outside.
