2G or Keep the 1G?
There is a 'walked 95-96 Talon Tsi AWD 5speed (black) at my work with about 75k on it. The interior and body is near mint. It has been sitting for almost a year now, and the owner will not pay his bill. I can get an extremely good deal on the car, and I am considering getting it as a project for a new daily driver. If I got the car, I would then sell my red 1992 Tsi AWD 5spd to fund the new motor, etc.
Obviously I'd put a 6bolt in there, and just enjoy the bloated car. Why am I even considering? Its almost too good to pass by, and I like black cars. Also, it is one of the nicest 95-96 Talons I've seen, and I could make a nice profit if I sold the car. I could also just buy it and have both... lol swap my 1G engine in, and part out the shell/rims/fmic, etc.
What would you do?

Keep the 1G. 2Gs suck for going fast and the 95-96s are kinda ugly. 2Gs also rust easy in the engine bay and underneath, the 95-96 also seem to suffer from excessive interior rattling most of the time. They also don't lighten up worth a crap.

I noticed you took the pic from the rear and below, so we could't see any of the 95's ugly features.

Re: 2G or Keep the 1G?
Having both cars I have an opinion on both. I like my 2G and it was a better looking car in my opinion. I don't need a car to get girls so I could care less about that, but yes girls usually like 2Gs more because its just a prettier car in most cases. But now that I have a 1G I like that too. It takes mods better and is a hell of a lot faster than my 2G was. And my 1G is five years older than my 2G was and its just as solid if not more solid. Shanes right when he says that 2Gs rattle and shit when they get old and they just don't seem as well put together as the 1Gs are.
I guess you have to ask yourself if you want to look good or go fast? To go fast in a 2G is going to cost you a little more money in the long run. But if its a good deal just buy it and fix it and turn it over for some money. It could be a win win situation.

Re: 2G or Keep the 1G?
Thanks guys. I might just get it, throw in some cheap running 6bolt and try and sell it for what its worth. And keep the 1G = )
But a Black 2G could be pretty, and quick. And right now quick is fine with me. I could always sell it...

Re: 2G or Keep the 1G?
If you really like it, swap in the engine from your 1G and part that car out piece by piece. I made a small fortune last summer parting my car out, far more than the car would have been worth even if the engine still had been in running condition. I personally find the 95-96 2G's ugly, the 97+ are a different story though. You just need to figure out what YOU want.

Re: 2G or Keep the 1G?
I agree with Hughes. Pull the engine from your 1G, swap it into your 2G, part out your 1G, and then sell the complete 1G Talon shell. Shells are always in demand so you would not have any trouble selling it. Plus there is always a market for parts. Plus there is always the option of buying the walked 2G and turning around and selling it right away for probably a decent profit if you can get it cheap enough.
