What does it take to run a 10? 500whp@DB, practice, or both? Neither?

I hope even my noob ass can hit a 10, otherwise I'm gonna see if Ron wants to try my car for a run or two to see what it can really do.

Good thing this is the bench racer's league thread, a ten...haha right Set your goals a little more realistic man, I'm gunning for high 12's!

Re: 2010 Bench Racer's League
I won't be happy without the 10 too. haha. last year with 336hp I was running 7.6-7.7 1/8th mile times which should be aroun an 11.5-7. This year should be a bit better.
Also, I'm down for the 11th if my car is.

Scheides, I fully do not expect to run a 10 the first time out, I would be happy in the low 12's with the power I expect my car to make.
However, I think my car will be 10's capable on street tires. And with some lightweight stuff and slicks, maybe even 9's eventually, plus a shit load of driver mod.
I say again, the 10's are my goal for the car, not what I think i will run first time out, lol.
I want to make a few events if possible when my car finishes up, but need it back first.
|
I don't have mine yet no, I think yours will be done before or around the same time as mine.
You'll run at least 11's for sure, no doubt about that.
Slicks break things. Expensive things.

Yes, but I like to break expensive things didn't you hear?
I won't get into slicks unless I really get into the 1/4 mile thing, i need to try it first, maybe I won't really like it, lol, who am i kidding.
I upgraded my diff pins, hopefully that saves something.
Off topic, but is your block still getting machined?

One you get slicks, and shoot for that 9, the car is a ton less fun on the street imo. Consider how much of a boner I would get for weight reduction/cage etc. Prolly need a parachute and like $7,000 in drivetrain shit too. I'll stick to a nice DD 10 second machine.
About the block, no idea. If Shane see's this he can chime. If not, oh well. I try not to bother them much, they're doing good work. That's all I need.

Yes, bench racing. Also known as being courageously optimistic of your goals.

I think I'd need a 'drag racing for dummies' book. I don't really even understand how staging or some fairly basic stuff works.
Seeing how Gump's beast of a X (with shop guys driving it) could barely break into 10's... Having NLTS would probably help.

There you go, Slicks > Drag Radials for breaking things.
