hello newbie here from north of minneapolis
Hello there.
My name is Garret and I am new to this website and the whole DSM scene. I am 26 and currently finishing up my degree in law enforcement. I have always been in old mopar muscle cars and currently own a 1970 'Cuda thats my baby. Well I got into Dsm's because I stumbled across my car while at work (i work at a salvage yard) and because the highmarket prices in the muscle car market have caused alot of people to become power parkers instead of power heads. My car that I own is a 1996 Eclipse GSX that is bone stock and never been modified (sorry this is the best pic I have right now).I might want to do some bolt on's later on in life but right now I am more concerned getting it running. (it currently has a bad rod). Well I hope I can learn alot about these car from you all.

Welcome to Style!
This is certainly the place to be to learn about these cars. You should come to the meet tomorrow night in Plymouth.

Welcome to the board. Your GSX reminds me of my old 96 white GSX. Hmm, I wonder if its the same one. When did you get it? Mine was sent to the salvage yard with front left damage about four years ago. It had about 107,000 miles on it then.
later,
Curt

Sorry Curt its not your car. It was sent to my work because of a bad rod bearing. It has 129,000 on it and has never been hit (looked it over really good) I just bought this car three months ago.

I was thinking of doing the 6 bolt swap but it seems like to big of a pain. I read that you have to mess with the wiring and if you get a check engine code you have to get a volume knob and splice........ I really dont want to hack into the car at all. I just bought a motor from a salvage yard for $650 and I think I might of got lucky. It was a warrenty replacement engine with a factory reman sticker on it. I would like to find out when it was replaced but no biggie. I just kinda want to leave a car kinda stock for once and use it as my daily driver.

Welcome, don't worry about all the 7 bolt haters, I don't have one, but if its power there are plenty of big power 7 bolts out there.

Welcome! Where in North? I live near robbinsdale, and am in the new brighton neighborhood once in a while. We have weekly events, feel free to come hang out anytime! Get that thing running!
Don't be afraid of the 6-bolt swap...it is the right thing to do IMHO.

Re: hello newbie here from north of minneapolis
Welcome to the site.
If you're keeping it semi-stock I'd stick with the 2g motor. A complete 6 bolt swap requires dsmlink to run right which is another $500, not worth it in my opinion.
