ECU help please

Alright, I need to transfer my dsmlink so I need to get the numbers off the inside of the ecu. I have everything ready to take out, I was just wondering if I need to take my negative battery cable off or if just having the ignition on off is good enough and won't damage the ecu?

BTW this is on a 91 talon.

Re: ECU help please

I'd at least unplug the connector on the ECU that's furthest to the left. That's the one for power and ground. Then again, I'd just take the ECU out.

Re: ECU help please

When in doubt, just take the negetive terminal off. It isn't going to hurt anything.

Re: ECU help please

There isn't a whole lot of room, any technique to unplug the connectors on the ECU?

Re: ECU help please

There's not much room to get them off, but once you get the ecu out, there's enough to get them unplugged.

Re: ECU help please

When I was hooking up an afc to my 1g, I ended up taking out the radio (which was aftermarket anyway), and gave it a good hard push back and to the passenger side. I can't remember exact details because it was so long ago, but I do remember thinking I should just make a kick plate and keep it off to the passenger side.

I'm kind of in a situation. I was too busy with work and lazy and ended up not getting it out before I got it tuned at DB yesterday. I was just gonna load the tune up onto my laptop before I disconnected the battery cable just in case it didn't retain the tune somehow. But now I just realized that I kind of needed to transfer ownership so I could get on the website lol.

Re: ECU help please

Cool. Your car is nice and pretty clean. Makes decent power too for the internally gated 50-trim on pump gas. A lot of guys with 61mm turbos don't put down as much on pump gas.
