Street car build-up please help!!
Ok all, i need some serious help. I am coming to you all, because a lot of you have/had experience with various setups. I have spent a number of nights searching so please bear with me.
At the start this car was going to be a replica of my last setup (2.4L, 60 trim) just a little improved.
But I have decided that i want to keep this thing fun/enjoyable/streetable and also a little more $$$ friendly.
My question is, what turbo?(b16G, 50trim,others?) what motor? (2.0 or 2.4) CR? (8.5:1, 9.0:1)
I should be going with a shep stage 2 or 3 tranny(depending on what i need) in a few months as mine is on its way out.
I love the spool up currently on my B16G, maybe just a little more power would be cool. (set to 15PSI due to stock I/C setup, have replacement just need time)
This car will see weekend cruising/some track time to get me by until my next project. I just don't want to build this thing up so that it wants to destroy itself all the time.
300-350hp on a DD dyno would be a good number.
3500rpm full boost would be nice.
Thx
Sorry if this has been covered or whatever. Your help is appreciated.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
2.0L stock block (hows your compression?), any variety 16G (keep your Big 16G), FMIC, cams, your choice of tuning equipment and supporting mods (AFC, MAF-T, 550cc injectors, Walbro 190 lph pump, etc.) . This'll get you a very quick 12-sec street car thats easy to tune and very reliable for DD street-use. There are a lot of good tranny options out there, I suggest TurboTrix (took over BM-Tranny), my race-built tranny was the best DSM tranny I've ever felt. You are also going to need some suspension to tighten the car up a bit. A nice mild street setup would be some Prokit springs, either GR-2 or AGX shocks, and a new rear anti-sway bar. PM me if you want more details and specific parts.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
Sorry that you cannot read that. I just re read it and it doesn't seem that bad.
I basically want a complete recommendation for a street set up.
My compression is junk in this motor, thats why i am asking about what size motor to go with for the build this winter and what CR to go with also.
So far my mods are:
Prokit & GR-2s
DSMlink
B16G
2G O2 housing & Exh. Mani. (Ported)
3" turboback
550s
Walbro 255
FMIC (waiting to go on)
FOrge BOV
EBC

Bone stock 2.0L is all you need for your goals. You shouldn't even need aftermarket cams.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
I would do a mild rebuild on the motor. Maybe 2G pistons and cams with a mild port job on the head. Then get an intake mani and pick a turbo any turbo.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
Go 2.4L and a 88mm turbo with a dogbox and empty pockets and 10.0 compression. 350whp on 10 psi sounds good and streetably daily driven.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
If you want 300 - 350 awhp on a DD, I would do a 2.4l with a 50 trim. Spool should be similar to B16g on a 2.0. The 50 trim on a 2.0 isn't a lot of lag either (full boost ~3,600), but not the same as a B16g.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
When you guys say full boost on a 50 trim at about 3600, is that stock 7.8:1 compression, cause my motor does need a rebuild, and i was thinking of going with 8.5:1 compression.
I appreciate all of the help you are all giving me, yes even you cher.

Re: Street car build-up please help!!
okay, looks like 2.4L, 50 trim turbo. 8.5:1 comp.
This is kinda just a bigger 16G on a 2.0L setup, mostly simple.
hmmm, What tranny do u think i will need for this power level? stg. 2 or 3.
Thank you for helping so far, just looking for suggestions.
Appreciated as always.

2.0 Mahle/Pauter Ti, sleeves and all the machine shop tricks. FFWD Stage 4.5 head. JUN 280 12.5mm lift cams and a HKS T04Z or T51R. Pick your tranny, but any DSM tranny won't hold it and still shift. Getrag FTW!

What he said.
The 2.4l will really really help hitting the 300-350AWHP on a Dyno Dynamics. 50-trim should keep the spoolup decent. Don't go too crazy with the compression, if you are mostly going to run pump gas. My daily driver has an old shitty ETA32 turbo(rare, most failed a long time ago) on it. It's a 50-trim with a tiny TA compressor housing, T3 exhaust wheel stuck into a restrictive Mitsu exhaust housing. The motor is a 2.0l, 2G piston/1G big rod, HKS 272 cams, FMIC. It makes around 264awhp on our Dyno Dynamics on pump gas. The car knocks very easy on pump gas though, so I have to keep the ignition timing about half of what a stock 1G ECU runs under boost(on 110octane with around 7psi more boost, a lot leaner A/F, and more timing it picks up around 120awhp). With a 2.4l and a more modern 50-trim based turbo, I would expect it to be in the 320awhp range on pump gas.

You must be a "bid dawg"
Anyway. I agree with most of the above. If you have to rebuild go with a 2.4 and 50-trim. Will spool nicely and put out some good numbers. Too bad you have to rebuild though.
