Hey everyone,
Yeah its the dead of winter, but since the All Mitsu Cookout is getting so big, I have to start the planning early. I want to have it keep growing and be even more fun for the people who come.
I'm trying to figure out what day to have it on. I've just found out that the Autovations show is on Saturday, August 21st, 2004. Not a lot of you guys went to that, but I know some of you did. Last year you had to choose one or the other to show your car in.
The SCCA Pro Rally up North is going to be Friday, August 27th and Saturday August 28th. DSMers support this rally and I know last year some people had to choose.
These two weekends are the two weekends I'd like to have the All Mitsu Cookout. The next weekend is Labor Day weekend, so thats out. The weekend before that gets a little hot weather wise. I'm kind of leaning towards having the Cookout on a Sunday. Either the 22nd or the 29th. I'd like to get some opinions on the Sunday idea, or other options.
Thanks,
Curt

Hey, if you have it the Saturday before and its really hot out then the girls will be in bathing suits. :stick: No, I have no preference, I don't know of many people that actually went to Autovations last year. I am sure that a Sunday on either of them weekends would be fine also. Hopefully you can fill up that field this year.

Why not earlier in August? I would steer clear of either of the weekends you are loooking at considering the other events going on around that.

Ive been looking for something like this. Hopefully by august, ill have my new 2g tricked out so i can show her off too ; ) What kinda stuff do you guys do there?.. I think dsmchick is right, the best idea would be to stear a bit further away from any car shows. Wouldnt wanna miss out on some of the dsms that may not come because of that!

My idea would be the Sunday on the weekend of Autovations. It's a local show thus no one comming from out of town like the Pro Rally. I honesty think that would work out best for attendance.

Thanks for the input so far. I think there is events every weekend in August that I know of. Mods and Rods is August 7th, 2004, DSM shootout is Aug 14, 15th. And the Autovations and Pro Rally are the other two Saturdays. Arrgh. :headache:
The All Mitsu Cookout is growing bigger and bigger and its not just a local show anymore. Last year we had people from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and Canada. Hopefully even more states will be represented this year.
I think I'm still sold on one of the last two Sundays in August. Either the 22nd or 29th. I'm wondering if Mitsu nuts that go up to the Pro Rally on Friday and Saturday will want to get there butts back to the Twin Cities by 11am Sunday to go to the All Mitsu Cookout??
Or if people are up late on a Saturday with the Autovations show, will they want to get there car cleaned up the next morning to go to another show?? This is going to be a tough decsion.
Thanks again,
Curt

Don't have it too early. I'm getting married August 14, I'll be gone for like the following week hopefully. But Miranda and I will be back for Autovations again. She's modeling, and my car is going to be in it.

People will not want to spend all day in the sun at the cokout after 2 days outside at the pro rally.
And don't base it off people saying they can or can't make it. I live 1 mile from the site and probably won't make it. But it only has to be planned for the majority.
Curt, it's your BBQ!! People will come!!

Although it's labeled as the All Mitsubishi Cookout, are DSMs in general invited to come or is it strictly open to only Mitsubishi cars?

Wow, its funny reading this. Like how u say that early august or july is too hot. I guess im pretty climatized to Arizona. I was in MN like all last July almost, and i thought the weather was so perfect. Not too hot. I'd go to it but i don't think the talon would make the 1500 mile trip
