with this law, does it force a church to perform a marriage? My understand is that the paperwork through the state is the only thing impacted. Though I guess more doors open for people to be sued if they don't want to participate in gay wedding due to it simply being a gay wedding.

You can refuse business to someone for being a dick, but as soon as the dick says he's gay you can't. Weird.

Anyway, back to shoutbox. Sorry for thread jack.

There is already a law suit filed over a church refusing to host a gay marriage.

I want to add. What is this going to do for military churches?

I was the first non military family to be married at the camden military academy. And I was only allowed because the pastor was a friend of mine who was in the military and worked there, and my mothers significant other is a 35yr veteran.

That's a slippery slope argument.

Furthermore, its very easy to argue that people of X age and younger lack the capacity to make Y decision. There will always be exceptions to this, and some of our age limits here in America are set arbitrarily. But to a large degree, science (not subjective religious opinions) and set this straight.

Additionally, we can definitively show young kids who experience molestation, or other sexual experiences at a young age are much more likely to develop mental health problems. There is a clear negative effect there, unlike in the case of same-sex marriage (other wise now know as just marriage).

I might be mistaken but wasnt it not to long ago getting married under the age of 16 was legal? I know my wifes grand parents were married at 14 and are still happily married been over 55yrs married.

And I fully agree unwanted molestation has a life ling effect on a child.

Slippery slope, hardly. No you wont see pedophiles getting rights to marry, based on pedophilia being illegal, homosexuality is not illegal and therefore makes it ok to give rights to.
And who the hell cares about the definition of marriage? Does it really affect your marriage by redefining it? no, no it doesnt.

Being gay used to be illegal, and has neen reversed. Just like today years ago no one expected this.

How do we know what the future holds, at this point I for one, believe anything is possible now.

Hell if jerry lee Lewis can marry his 14yr old cousin in a time where that was strickly ground apon

What's going happen in based on the trend thats happening now?

I just did a quick search, didnt read this article.

The one I was referring to was just a post on Facebook where someone mentioned it happened already.

Again I haven't done any homework on it. Just skimmed over posts while I was on lunch break and quit frankly would take way to long to find it again.

Edit link above is for the UK:

If enough of the population decides polygamy is for them, it'll eventually be made legal. Thus is the nature of a government for the people by the people...

By the way my mothers twin sister is a lesbian. And her son the one that hasn't worked in 15yrs (posted in the other thread) is poly.
he is married to a Canadian and has a live in girlfriend and they live in north carolina. And i already saw he just posted about cant wait till poly becomes legal.

Pedophilia is a crime because it harms kids! You guys are not thinking clearly. Basically saying rape will be the next equal

They are thinking very clearly. Rape and pedophilia will be legal cause the unwilling kids and women will enjoy it! Cmon, think about it!

...

This thread changes many of my opinions about people on this site.

Anyhoo.. One thought of mine that has not changed, is that Alpha D is a retard. Does anyone understand anything this guy posts? Hes like a kid with ADHD having a seizure smashing his fists into his keyboard.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The case that the court actually ruled on was that the case was Windsor v. The United States, not against a church or religion. Also, the to be specific, I believe the court ruled that legislation banning same sex marriage is unconstitutional. This is not exactly the same as explicitly declaring that same sex marriage is legal.

Given those two things, and the first amendment, I think this only applies at a government level. In other words I don't think a state can deny issuing a marriage licence, but a church could opt not to allow a couple to get married at their church.
